Replaced AC plug on mother board. Compaq 2200 lap top
Did the replacement plug now works, but the computor comes on in safe mode then goes to the windows screen, but goes no further. I've tried the reset with the paper clip still no luck. Any suggestions. is it possible to cross the two wires that are visable on the bottom of the computor when the little door is opened? I can't find any thing that is not connected. Any suggestions woukld be welcome.

HELLO. IT SOUND'S LIKE YOU HAVE A BAD POWER RIBBON. . IT'S THE RIBBION THAT CONECKET'S FROM THE POWER BUTTON TO THE MOTHER BOARD. !!! IT A COMMEN PROBLUM. IN SOME LAP TOP'S . WELL HOPE THIS HELPS YOU . GOOD LUCK
thats mostlikely one of the wire's for your speakers, printer or any other device yuo have that needs power.. If so that wont help your pc in any way.
I'd untangle and trace the wire back to see where it's coming from to be safe. Also if your pc is plugged in along with your monitor and you can turn both on and you still get an error, then you have a problem. I'd submit a new question detaling the error or beeps your getting.
sounds like the backlight has gone....test with an external monitor....if the external monitor works without any problems...the backlight has gone...better to get a professional to do this as its kind of fiddly and involves taking the screen apart
