No Sound on M-Audio Sessions

I have Windows XP SP3. I had to have Windows completely reinstalled on my computer due to a virus. M-Audio Sessions worked fine before the reinstall but not after. I finally got it downloaded with the SP3 version and the microphone works too but there is no sound and I can't record. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I would appreciate your help. Yes there is a yellow exclamation point beside "other device." It's my son's computer and he tried to do an update of the drivers but only got an error message saying download not possible. The computer is a Gateway desktop AMD Athlon running XP SP#. I'm not sure of the model number.

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

More than likely your computer is lacking the drivers to run the sound card or sound portion of your motherboard. These are included ON the motherbaord drivers CD if integrated into the Motherboard and on thier own CD if you added in a soundcard in an expansion slot.
A good way to check is to go to the control panel , click on system, then select the hardware tab at the top, then select the "device manager " button. scroll down and look for a yelloe ! or ? next to your sound device or listed as "other device".
If you find ANY of these, the drivers are missing, corrupt or NOT installed.
If you include the make and model of the computer, I can help you with some specific instruction, so feel free to post again if you need more help.. Regards

where you see the yellow exclamation point, right click on it and select the uninstall button. the new drivers will not load if the system thinks the drivers ARE installed even if they are not working.

You will need to post the model and make of your computer, which operating system you are using, and which sound device is listed that its trying to install drivers for: and i will find the correct drivers for you... then once you have the drivers and the old ones removed , the computer will detect the sound card and ask for the new drivers.

    regards...

once the bad driver is removed, install the new one.

I cannot get rid of pceu virus on a windows xp pro fujitsu desktop because it has disabled safe mode and I do not have the windows xp cd to reinstall windows and the cd/dvd drive does not work .

Download the SP3 installation ISO. Save it to your Desktop. Download ImgBurn and save it to your Desktop. Double-click the installation executable for ImgBurn and click "Next." Follow the remaining onscreen prompts and click "Finish" to complete installation of ImgBurn. Insert a blank CD-R/DVD-R into your DVD drive. Open ImgBurn by going to "Start," "Programs" and "ImgBurn." Click "File," then "Browse for a source file." Navigate to your Desktop and select the SP3 ISO file. Click "Open." Click the blue "ISO to CD" button located on the bottom left of ImgBurn. The program will begin creating the Windows XP SP3 installation CD. This process may take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to complete depending on the speed at which the CD-R/DVD-R is being burned. Click "OK" once the CD-R/DVD-R has finished burning. You've successfully created a Windows XP SP3 installation CD.

Try booting in safe mode and go into device manager and remove all items under sound and reboot and your sound should come back if your audio chip or card is not defective. Here is the link for the drivers SP3321277 Hope this helps

After reloading xp sp3 i now have no sound

Try reinstalling the audio drivers for the Tascam device.
And make sure they are the latest drivers as well.
Other option is that the Windows Audio service is not running, which you can check in the service manager.

No sound on my computer

The abscence of sound is due to a missing or a corrupt driver for sound. Drivers become corrupt due to a virus attack or accidently deleting a driver file. To repair this you have to reinstall the drivers and restart your computer.

The drivers can be found in the below link

Try reinstalling the driver of your sound card. Then restart your computer. Some audio card failed to recognize certain function that is why you need to reinstall their drivers just to refresh the functionality of the device.

Hi there.
If you get a security window pop up that says you are installing unsigned drivers, just click on install anyway and the drivers will install for the audio.

why not reinstall sp3 again for windows xp if it freezes then it might be looking for files that don't exist anymore. If the virus attatched itself to your files they may have been removed when you ran your virus software. you don't need to format to reload windows. Just simply do a clean reinstall on C drive.
