Keeping the thread in needle when you begin to sew

after threading the needle pull about 6" of thread out the back under the press foot
that way the thread is jammed under the foot and is held in place for the next thread
bobbin thread should also be out the back
when you have finished sewing then lift the foot and move the material sewed about 6"" away from the foot before cutting the threads

The top thread is to loose and sometimes it skips a stitch

Increase the upper thread tension, or loosen the bobbin tension to balance them. Put in a new needle too. Check that the needle is in correctly.

Ruffler foot bobbin tangles

I suspect that the bobbin thread you are talking about is in fact the top thread that has been pulled under the material, make sure that the top thread is pulled into the tention discs firmly and that there is no fuzz in with the thread, also make sure the top thread is properly threaded and is actually in the take up bar .

Something is wrong with bottom thread. It makes a mess of thread under the material when sewing. It seems to cut the bottom thread about every 5 inches and continue on.

First check that your needle isn't bent - it sounds like it may be dragging against the back of the hook. Dont 'pull' the material through - let the feed-dogs do that. Probably best to get it checked-out by a competent Bernina agent

The thread on the top side of my material starts looping after 4-5 stitches. I've tried every number of thread tension, and even on 0 it loops on the right side of the material, not on the back.

Check the tension on your bobbin thread. When you hold it by the thread and let it dangle does it just drop down without any resistance at all? If so then you need to tighten it a bit. If the bobbin thread is too loose it can not pull the top thread down enough thus puts the loops on the top side of the stitch.

Bobbin area will not work

There should be a spinning cover with a hook that fits over the bobbin. Normally, you just pull the bobbin thread out through the swinging/sliding plate hole. Turn the machine by hand toward you (at the top) until the needle dives into and comes back with both threads. Separate the threads and assuming that the thread tension above the needle is set correctly, feed a piece of material in to see if it sews correctly. The tension is set so that the thread is even on both sides of the material. Let the machine pull the material through at it's own pace, your function is to guide the material.

Machine is threaded but thread not sewing into material, just holes!

Check bobbin thread....Insert the bobbin thread into the bobbin case in a clockwise direction...pull the thread through the **** on side of bobbin case and slide up into small opening...make sure you pull through about 2 inches of thread to enable upper thread to loop. Good Luck

Thread hangs up

Remove the needle plate and look for any burrs or nicks that may be catching the thread. If you find any they need to be removed with a small file or emery stick.

Bobbin

To adjust any sewing machine for thin material do the following.

1.Use a fine needle,
2.Use a fine thread,(upper & Lower)
3.Reduce the the thread tension, Upper& Lower)
4.Reduce the presser foot tension,
5.Reduce the stitch Lenght.
6.Help the machine by pushing the material towards the needle while sewing. (don't pull it back.)
