Same humming/whirring sound from freezer

I have a 2 year old GE Model# SH25JSRFSS that started the same high-pitched humminh whirring sound that others have talked about with their GE frigs. Do the same fixes apply to this model or is their anything unique about my circumstance? Thanks, sansbw

you will need to remove the shelves from your freezer and the rails that support them. left and right rails are specific so I usually set them on either side of me. turn the fridge off and remove the back pannels (im asuming this is a side by side fridge/freezer). with the back panel off you should see the evap. coils on the bottom and the fan will be above that. if there is no ice built up on or around the fan turn the fridge back on to verify that this is where the noise is coming from. nothing is worse than order parts you dont need. if the fan motor is noisy remove and replace (remember to unplug the fridge before you remove the fan. Any good parts supplier will be able to order the fan motor for you if you can give them an accurate model number.

High-pitched alarm-like sound coming from GE frig - TBX22PRYCRAA

Very common problem is the evap fan located in the freezer section is the cause. Sorry but this is controlled by the main board on the back and only way to fix the problem is with a new board. Sorry about the news but it is the problem.

the bearings in the motor are going bad. you probably need a new fan motor.

The washing machine makes a high-pitched squeking

No, not if the noise is only when rinsing, if it makes the noise when spinning generally then possibly but if only noisy when rinsing sounds like a filter blockage on the waste pipe. clean out the filter behind the flap on the bottom of the front panel

New High Pitch sound

If the sound is from the compressor, the unit is likely under warranty...generally 5 years.  If the unit is frozen up and the sound is from a fan that is hitting ice, defrost the unit completely.  Other fans in the unit could also be squealing.  You'll have to be a detective.

GE SidexSide PSS26SGPASS Makes Humming Noise

GE refrigs have a variable speed evaporator fan motor that is controlled by a computer board on the back of the refrig. now the noise you are hearing is most likely the fan motor ramping up and down in speed (some of my customers say it sounds like a ghost). if its a continuous ramping up and down then the speed cotroller on the board is bad and must be replaced. if its just an occasional sound then thats normal and nothing to worry over.

Btw the reason the noise stops when the door opens is because the fan shuts off when you open the door.

I have a GSL25JFPH BS refrigerator by GE. It made the whirring sound, a repairman came out and told me that the fan motor needed replacing, price of $277. I sent him away, and after a few minutes on the internet, saw on this site that a new circuitboard (part# WR55X10656) should fix it. I found it on ebay for $83, and it took about fifteen minutes to install. No more whirring!!
