SOURCE: Brand new yesterday/ Samsung R580-JBB2

when you download a movie usually it is stored into the C partition into the download folder...
The C partition is large enough not to worry for getting out of space soon ..but for to be safe and keep your files in D partition you have to actually get into the download folder...or from desktop if this is the case..and cut the movie folder...and paste into partition D ..This operation will move it physically and fast ..
what use this will do ??
The C partition is the active one ..and in case you get a virus or any damage to the operation system ...this partition is the one that needs to be formatted in the process of recovery or reinstalling all the files from download folder or in My documents folder ..or from the desktop will be deleted ..
If you want to have the files in handy all you have to do is make a short-cut on he desktop for the main folders in D partition or the folders you use mostly ..
This action can be made by right click on the folder in D partition ..and choose send to desktop ..and a shortcut will be made..
Another usefull thing is how to make new folders in case you do not know ...for to be able to store the files by categories in D partition ...
Just click right in the partition ..and click new..and choose folder..After that name the folder (or rename it after case...right click on it and rename ) and use it ..I would advise to make separate folders in D : for and music..This way you will be able to make shortcuts for them and keep in safe all your files..

Depends on what you intent to repair, if it's a physical failure on the hard drive - it can't be fixed. Basic support to retrieve some data can be done by check-disk which is freely available on windows

Dropped the hard drive, won't detect. How do I retrieve the files (mostly pictures)?

Bring it to a computer repair store, they have additional tools that will extract the files in most cases.

My computer malfunctioned and I took out the hard drive to try and retrieve my files using a USB cable. I am stuck

Your hard drive has no USB port, it has a (seral) SATA 3 GB/sec interface, currently and
by far the most popular used on laptops, and also desktop computers. The SATA (serial advanced technology interface) 3 GB/Sec is version 2.0 of the SATA standard.

So, you'll need another laptop or desktop with a spare SATA 2.0 port, or a spare SAS (Serial
Attached SCSI) port, since SATA drive may be attached to SAS backplanes, as well as SATA backplanes. For a laptop, you may need to use the eSATA connector/cable
(see for eSATA technical specs and a photo).

External Buffalo Hard Disk 500 Gb model no HD-PF500U2/BK-AP not detecting when connnected to a laptop or a desktop PC

Check the usb port function in the computer bios settings and be sure that it is set to yes. Connect properly your external drive. If it has two wire usb connections, use both to obtain the maximum power that will be need by your drive.

Seagate barracuda 722.10 light flashing but hard drive not runing, lots of data on it to retrieve, can i take it apart and run disk in cd/dvd drive or can i get new boards for it.and will it work if i change...

actually im fixing hardisk drive if you change the board it will work and spin. but the problem there is a serial protection of your disk and you cannot retrieve your files. now you have to troubleshoot the board. check fuse protect, rectifier diodes for 12v&5volts, and regulator.

Most likely if it makes sound then it is getting ready to crash, don't take a chance and remove your files and replace.
