SOURCE: Mecha Error 12 on Kodak Photo 6800 printer

I had a 6850 with the Mecha error 12. No listing in the service guide for this error. I took the front of the printer off and observed that the cut head was not moving far enough to the left to trigger the sensor. I realized that a screw of unkown origin had fallen down behind the cut head and was preventing it from triggering the left sensor. It took a curved pick tool and a pair of tweezers to get it out. I don't recommend taking the cut assembly apart as the alignment is pretty crucial.

Hope this helps some poor sole from the hours of fustration that it gave me.

Mecha error 03

Hello Rajeev, I am assuming you have a kodak picture printer 6850? if you do the mecha error 03 is the Main Pinch Roll Up error. This could be due to the pinch roller motor failing for some reason. From what I can see it is a common problem with this model. Can you hear the motor running before the error code kicks in? If so the belt or sprocket the turns the roller may have become dislodged or misaligned. If you aren't hearing anything suspicious then the motor itself may have failed and is no longer functioning. If this is the case contact kodak and look for a service agent in your area you may take the unit too.

Mecha error o3

Mecha error 03 is a malfunction of the main pinch motor. Ninety-Five percent of the time the problem is that the motor has failed. The machine will more than likely have to be sent in for maintenance.

Mecha error 07

Mecha error 07 and 08 are malfunctions of the paper feed pinch motor located in the right side of the paper compartment. The paper feed pinch is the first roller to grab the paper when it feeds into the machine. This error is tricky. I will walk you through a few fixes.
The first fix is to just power cycle the printer and try to reload the paper. Occasionally the pinch arm will end up in the wrong position due to the printer stopping because the ribbon was empty.
The second fix is to check and make sure that the sensor arm is reaching both sensors on the motor. Sometimes the arm binds on the metal plate inside the paper compartment causing it to not reach the sensor.
The third fix is to start replacing parts. The two things to start with would be the sensors and, although rare, the motor itself. After those are ruled out the only other options are the wiring harness running from the sensors to the junction board, the junction board itself, the power cable running from the junction board to the controller board, and then finally the controller board itself.

Good luck!
