IVE GOT TDC on #1 now do I put the distributer rotor pointing toward #1?

It depends which tdc ... Remember that the piston will be at TDC on both the compression and exhaust stroke.

If you turn a distributor to point the rotor rotor arm at no 1 terminal on the exhaust stroke, your timing is 180 degrees out.

Other wise yes, point the rotor arm at No1 terminal.

To check which TDC it is.. place your finger over the no 1 spark plug hole and get somebody to turn the engine for you. You'll feel the compression build up.

Does anyone know97 Honda Odyssey with code P1361 Tdc?

P-Power Train
1-Manufacturer Specified Code (Honda)
3-Ignition System, Misfire

1-Component or Sub-System Section

P1361 is: Intermittent Interruption In TDC 1 Sensor Circuit.
Check out the TDC sensor, connector 124 (grey and on the distributor) check power and grounds. It's missing a signal from the TDC sensor in the distributor and causing a misfire.

Where does distributor rotor point for tdc

You can't use a distributor to find TDC. To find it you have to turn the engine over until the timing mark on the harmonic balancer ( bottom pulley) lines up with the 0 on the metal tab on the timing cover. When these 2 marks are lined up that is TDC.

HOWEVER, the crank makes 2 turns to every 1 turn of the camshaft so you hit TDC twice. To make sure that you are right you must remove the valve cover and watch the valves as you turn the engine. The proper thing to see is the intake valve ( farthest from the exhaust manifold) open and starting to close as you come up on TDC. As you go past TDC the exhaust valve (closest to the manifold) will start to open. If this is not what you see turn the engine over 1 complete turn to line up the timing marks again. At this point, where the rotor button points is #1 spark plug.

#1 piston, on a GM is always at the front of the motor. If you have a V6 or V8 then #1 will be at the front on the driver's side of the engine. On a 4 cylinder it will the first cylinder. Hope this helps.

I had to replace a cam and rockers on my 97 3.0 dodge caravan. its in time. we are on top dead center and the distributer in all lined up. still wont start! What could the problem be?

Is it cranking over fast enough? If you are trying to start an engine that also was drained of all fluids, it usually needs a little more power to crank over fast enough the first time. Try "jumping" it with another vehicle to make sure it is cranking over fast enough. What exactly is happening when you try to start it?

Need to know how to time honda harmony tiller

well
heres your 4 strokes

1 intake down
2 compress up
3 power stroke down
4 exhaust up

if you start with you start with the piston just a couple of degrees past TDC (top dead center) so that it has started its return down

now set the valves so they are closed:
if you have an adjustable valve clearance's then your clearances should be noticeable like 10 thousands ( you should be able to move the lifter ( rocker arm ) and it will be loose up and down

with the spark plug still out; so you can see the piston coming to TDC and passing it to come down

turn the flywheel and watch the strokes and the condition of the valves

1 just past tdc, the intake valve opens and the piston goes down for the intake stroke

2. jst as the piston comes around BDC the intake valve should close and return to tdc with all valves closed ( the compression stroke )

3 just past TDC the ignition will fire and the piston will return down with both valves closed( the power stroke)

4 just past BDC the exhaust valve opend , the piston travels up and completes the exgaust stroke.

and after completing the exhause stroke and arriving at tdc the intake valve opens and you start over again 1,2,3,4
