Unit is Freezing over the filter in the back, till it block airflow totally?

then if that is true.
it needs just a tad more shot of freon
its running out freon an running too cold it should run below freezing.
else the pumps had it.
if its a truly closed system it cant leak or contaminate
but the oil can burn up.

How to set temperature for freezer part on Model GSH22JGCC BB What should it be

The best temperature for the freezer section is in the range of 0 F to -10 F. Ice cream will remain somewhat mushy at temperatures above about 5 F or so. Actually ice cream never does totally freeze due to the fat content.... it does get hard but does not totally freeze. Now ice on the other hand will freeze solid at 32 F , as you well know, the colder the faster it will freeze.

I have kitchen aid superba the icemaker works fine, except at the door where ice is dispensed the unit freezes up the ice crusher area like there is an air leak in the door somewhere which allows warm air...

I have had this issue with my french door kitchen aid freezer drawer. I have a toddler who sometimes gets into the drawer. If it is left open just a hair, it will melt everything completely and water leaks out all over the floor.

The drain gets clogged when the door gets pushed back in for a tight seal and freezes again.

Try to focus on keeping a really tight seal every time you open and then close the freezer...its almost like you have to TRY to close it hard to ensure it is closed. Total pain, but it works. When the door is closed tight, it stays like it is supposed to .

It keeps freezing over (even at the low mode on cold and the temperature is set all the way to 80) the whole system freezes any help will be great thanks guys

The unit most likely has a refrigerant leak. This will cause the system freeze up you describe.
The leak will have to be found, repaired, and the system recharged. Depending on where the leak is the cost for total repair could be more expensive than you want to spend. Compare with cost of a new unit.
Hope this helps.

There is a wall of ice inside the air conditioner behind the filter.

If you haven't already, tunr the unit OFF & unplug it. Allow to totally thaw. Then remove the air intake filter and clean it thoroughly. It is probably clogged, which is what caused the unit to freeze up. But, do not attempt this, until the unit has totally thawed.

Hope helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Unit cools great but when extremly hot weather occurs it eventually freezes up.

dirty filters in the indoor unit.As the ambient temperature rises the unit will work harder and longer, its fine when its just a normal day because the evaporator coil wont have time to ice up as the compressor will cycle off before the coil freezes totally, but during extreme ambient temperatures the coil will ice up as the compressor will continue running to reach set-point causing the coil to ice up

Friezes up

When a wall unit freezes up, unbelievable it's usually low on refrigerant. Are the coils totally frozen that is, is the frost all the way up the coils or just half way? Write back and let me know pls.

Hotpoint side-by-side freezer drain freezes

yes totally defrost unit and verify drain is not plugged, make sure drain is trapped. it may drain into a pan on top of compressor, where heat dissipated by compressor evaporates condensate. certain crosly model freezers made by w.c. wood co. have a problem with that.

Used as beer fridge but contents freezing

The defrost timer in the unit is probably bad take a look at it there should be a timer with a slot in it around the thermostat that you can turn with a common screwdriver the timer should click and go into defrost mode and the unit should shut off, if the unit shuts off and it still doesn't defrost you either have a thermal cut-out that is bad in the freezer next to the heater element or the heater element itself is bad. Let us know :-)
