My battery powered dewalt jigsaw had lost power, it's not the battery as it works fine in my other dewalt tools and the brushes look pretty good to?

If the battery is good, and you feel the brushes are good, then the problem is either the motor or wiring. Either way, you will need a repair service to fix it. Here is how to find a service center near you:

Dewalt drill melts battery

There may be a short in the motor or wiring, or the gearbox is broken or otherwise seized up. Dewalt provides replacements for most parts at reasonable prices, so it's worth taking the drill apart to find out what is going on. I suspect you will find damaged wiring inside due to overheating; you may be able to identify the problem by seeing where the wire insulation is charred or melted. Unless you have a good drill of the same model so you can compare electrical resistance, it's a bit hard to ID a bad motor with an ohmmeter. However, you can try visual and olfactory inspection - if it looks and smells burned, it probably is. You still should check the transmission to make sure it isn't the source of the problem. DeWalt DW708 switch

This is the newer 744 series, white cord to white motor and black cord wire to black motor.

If your motor needs the mag starter that 5th loose wire, usually red, goes to the start terminal on the mag starter.

It has been intermittent for a while now like there was a loose connection somewhere. But the other day the battery started smoking so I had to remove it. It is around 3 years old

Take a look at this diagram. Items 14 and 15 are the wires that run from the switch to the motor. They tend to get hot and melt the insulation of the wire where the connector plugs into the motor. If the bare wire touches the metal motor housing then it will short out. I would guess that is what happened.

Dewalt D55155-QS 220 volts can it convert to use 115 volts?

The short answer unfortunately is no. The internal motor that drives this compressor requires 220 and will not work properly with 110. Your only option would be to replace the motor with one compatible with 110. The cost of that would approximate a major portion of a replacement unit.

Sorry about the bad news.
