Is the flex all right? Check it with a voltmeter or a continuity meter (available for a small sum in your local hardware or electrical shop).

Overheats shuts off (protecto relay/)

The Electrolux vacuum hoses don't have a fuse of any sort incorporated into them. The resettable relay is in the machine they're connected to. In your case, judging by the shape of the machine end of the hose, your vac would be what was called a Special Model, with a Canadian type hose. These machines did have a resettable fuse in them which was supposed to protect the motor from overheating. If this feature is happening frequently, either the hose is partially plugged, or the motor is having a seriouis problem of it's own. It should be inspected by a qualified Electrolux technician, and they're getting harder and harder to find since they went to a franchise system of sales offices. Good luck.

Cord won't stay out, it keeps going back in

when pulling the cord out, it should 'keep' it that spot if you pull a certain direction, cant recall if it is up, or down, left or right, and pulling it opposite direction releases the cord again

How to clean a washable electrolux filter

Hi There,
Ok so i am going to assume you are talking about an Electrolux filter that is basically a rectangle shape with a hard plastic outer and folded corrugated filter material in the middle. The link I put to Electrolux filter would be a good example. Basically I would caution you against washing it. I know the packaging says that it is washable but what I have found is that the pores of the filter material are too fine for water to pass through. What will happen is that the vacuums suction will wedge tiny bits of dirt and dust in the pores and water will not necessarily flush it out. What is far more likely to happen is that it will wash out a fair amount but leave a portion in the filter to set and therefore continue to block suction.
You are better to use an air compressor or simply tap the filter out on a piece of newspaper and change it every year or so.
Of course if your filter is more like a Electrolux UltraActive filter which is basically foam then you simply rinse it out like a kitchen sponge and make sure it is bone dry before putting back in the machine.

How do I take apart my electrolux ultrasilencer green vacuum to fix the retractable chord?

I would not recommend doing that. Take it to your local vac shop. They may or may not be willing to repair it. These machines were not built to repair. They are considered disposable. I have repaired these at my store but it is a very tedious task to get it apart without breaking all the tiny plastic tabs. You should give the local shop a chance before trying it yourself. They are better equipped for it.

Electrolux Guardian canister electrical problem

I believe there is a fused lead inside of the canister. Depending on where you connected your test light, you may have blown this fuse. I don't think you will have much luck finding aftermarket parts for this unit, so you may want to find an Aerus dealer. You can go to and use the dealer locater to find the closest store. Good Luck!

Accidentally plugged into 220 volt outlet

The wiring diagram isn't showing a fuse, but there could be one on one of the circuit boards. Maybe the converter is bad. You will just have to take it apart and look it over. Maybe this pic. will help:
