Fix subwoofer When turning on, subwoofer makes dull feedback noise with no audio output. Has done this before, and worked fine until I moved the subwoofer. Audio input jacks have been very sensitive in the past.

Pop open the back side of the sub and see if the to connections are soldered firmly to the wires/drivers themselves & make sure your system is grounded meaning the 3 pronged plug has to have the 3 post still connected to the power cord. If its broken off as most people do it'll cause that feedback or dull hummmmm noise.

Cannot get the subwoofer to play...all other speakers work fine...my Kenwood receiver is VR-309...the subwoofer model is Kenwood SW32-HT... I have also used the setup mode to make sure the Subwoofer is...

After making sure that your subwoofer is receiving power, as most models have their own amplifier, make sure that it actually is turning on. There is a possibility of a faulty power switch. Lets rule that out first.
Once the switch is on and the proper power connection is verified, turn your attention to the setup menu on your receiver. Navigate to the LFE/Sub output level. Adjust it up all the way. Then navigate to the crossover setting. Turn it up all the way. If the subwoofer also has it's own control panel including a crossover, turn that up all the way as well. Then with an input on the receiver that has a subwoofer output set up such as for DVD, play some audio. Or likewise you can also use the receivers' test tone capability that will pan each channel individually with a wide band pink noise signal that also includes a signal sent to the subwoofer output.

If this procedure does not produce results then send me a message including your subwoofer model and your observations of your systems' operation.

I have a Boston MCS130 surround sound system, have had for about 2 yrs. Was woken up during the night with the subwoofer making feedback noise. Had to turn off to keep from making noise. Have checked...

mine had the same problem until it completely quit. unplug the sub and turn it over, press gently on the speaker cone, does it move freely, or do you hear a sort of scrapping noise? if it moves freely with no noise, its a dif problem than mine. if you do hear the scrapping noise, then theres a short in the voice coil, from what ive read you have to replace the driver (actual speaker part), its basically blown

Can the sony xplod 1000watt amp be bridged for more power to just one sub? also what problem would cause a subwoofer to make a slight burp noise whenever the car is shut off or into the non accessory...

Hello,
This amplifier can only be bridged for a single subwoofer with an output rating of 380 watts bridged. The amp is not rated for 1000 watts.
The burping noise you here is the electronic switch discharging power off on the large capacitor that are used in high performance amplifiers. Regards, rcampsr

JBL PB10 subwoofer, it makes a loud burp noise when it comes on.

In the industry - It is called "Turn-On Thump".

There are some manufacturers that eliminate components like noise filters on enry level lines to save money.

There is no way to lessen this noise without ripping the amplifier apart and having a technical knowledge of the way amplifiers work. It would involve hard-wiring a slow charge capacitor in the turn on line so it gradually builds power instead of getting it all at once.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

KAC-7202 Major feedback after a few minutes of running.

you might try unplugging the wires from the sub, turn it back on with the wires disconnected- if the noise comes back the amp is probably bad - if the noise doesn'tcome back -turn your head unit off and reconnect the sub- if the noise comes then your sub's voice coil could be shorted- if the noise comes back you should try a different speaker to compare- if the noise still there with the test speaker your problem is definately the amp.

It wont run my subwoofers

See if a) the head unit has a separate subwoofer output control, and make sure it's activated; b) the amplifier you're using for the subs has the gain control properly turned up; c) if neither of these fixes the problem, make sure all of your amp fuses are intact; d) make sure the subwoofers are in a properly-sized enclosure (too much or too little airspace can affect the sound output).

thats sounds like feedback. try giving your sattelites spacings. if they are near to each other, try to put them far from each other.

try also to turn of your microphone. that might work.

Amps and sub-woofer not working

Enter into the Audio Setup mode(press and hold volume button for at least 1 second). Next, repeatedly push the volume button until the display shows "2 ZONE". Make sure this feature is turned off. Hold the volume button again for at least 1 second to leave Audio Setup mode.

Now you need to make sure the Subwoofer Output is turned on. Do this by holding down(AM position) on the control knob(toggle stick) for at least 1 second. Each time the button is pressed, the Subwoofer Output is turned ON/OFF. the display should show "SW ON".

Next, you can go into Audio Control mode(press but do not hold volume button). Keep pressing on the volume knob until "Sub-WLevel" is displayed. Here you can adjust the amount of gain for the Subwoofer ranging from -15 to +15.

I hope this fixes your problem with it.

Cheers
