Question about Computers & Internet

I have LifeFrame application for the use of the webcam in ASUS Notebook, but when I try to use it in another application it says the camera is inactive/been used. When I close LifeFrame, the camera turns off . Is there no way to use this device without that software (LifeFrame)??

Thanks, Eli! But I've already fixed it. I've had to download another "driver": ASUS Virtual Camera, which allows the camera turns on automatically when some application needs it, without open LifeFrame. Thanks again!

The camera should be available to be used without LifeFrame. See if there any options in Options (or Preferences) at the LifeFrame software, where you can choose if the camera should be used with it. If you can't figure it out, contact LifeFrame tech support, they should be able to help you with the setup. Or if you don't find a solution, uninstall the software and just use windows to administer the camera.

SOURCE: My ASUS Webcam program is Lifeframe and every time

We ran a typical Asus laptop battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

Asus lifeframe missing pictures

Hi emoly
try doing a search for a file type, in windows 7 type in the search box "type:jpeg" without the quotes. jpeg is a common type of picture, if you know that your camera saves as a different file type then use that. Hope this helps.

How do i open the camera on my asus k53e

If the WEBcam driver is not installed then download and install it.
You can download the WEBcam and device drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to their WEB support site : - http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

My Asus K501 webcam will not open. In Lifeframe, it says it is being used by another application.

Try taking a look at this forum page as a few people have had some success here: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20080623193235718&board_id=24&model=AF-200&SLanguage=en-us&page=1
It would seem that facial recognition utilities for logging in that use the webcam or screensavers that use the webcam can take exclusive control of it.

Lifeframe webcam on an asus laptop, says camera is used by another program

Don't open two programs that uses webcam, for example: if you have skype application opened with video call you can use the webcam at yahoo messenger. make show application that requires one web cam features like video calling are online opened when needed.
if the is a hidden program that you sure to have close it that is still in process, then open the task manager and click on applications, you will see and end it process there, if the problem persist then restart the computer.

Asus virtual camera not working

have you tried pressing Fn+V keys? V key has a camera icon and when Fn key is pressed together with it, Asus lifeFrame utility opens. Only then your webcam will be activated. Enjoy!

I am a first time user of ASUS virtual camera. Can you provide me with instructions on how to turn it on and off?

Hi kathy_handra,

You can turn on and off the ASUS virtual camera by pressing the FN+V. The Virtual camera uses software called ASUS lifeframe. You can locate and launch it by looking under the ASUS utility group of Icons for Lifeframe. When you open the application it is usually set to video mode. So, to switch it to camera click on the camera icon which is located at the lower left circular menu. To locate the photos, you will find them in your document folder [Documents\ASUS\LifeFrame\Image].

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Asus Webcam constantly being used by mystery application

Built in webcams are not the easiest to troubleshoot as its difficult to reboot the webcam software.
With my plug-in I can just disconnect it for a couple of seconds to reboot it and clear the previous program.
Its not unusual for webcam software to remain hooked up to a program even after you exit it correctly.
What is unusual with yours the webcam comes on when you start your computer.
You might try to disable your webcam and then enable it again in the 'Imaging' folder of your Device Manager to see if the webcam light goes off and remains off when you enable it again.
You should be able to see where the webcam is being used by launching your Task Manager and hitting the Application tab.
Hope you can get your problem sorted and post some information on it for future reference
