My 2003 Kia Rio gets hot the clutch slips in fourth gear is an automatic transmission Any suggestions on what I can do to fix problem?.

Sounds like your clutch is wearing out. You will have to get it replaced. You should try and keep your automatic in the lower gears most of the time. Usually the L setting on the automatic will keep it in lower gears.

How to fix a clutch for a kia rio 2003


What is wrong with your clutch first of all? Is slipping or smells like it is burned?
Most manual transmissions cars have a clutch adjustment to compensate for the wear on the clutch , some cars have a hydraulic adjustment.
Depending on how bad is the wear on the clutch you might need to replace it especially if the clutch overheated and is glazed.

This is a situation of low pressure,as you warm up the vehicle the transmission fluid is warmer which allow the torque convertor to produce pressure to collapse the clutch pack and transfer power for a shift gear,your solution is a torque convertor and a front pump

Rebleed slave cylinder if you had third and fourth strong before. Do they catch when you're sitting with the car off and moving gears into position?

I would check the operation of the shifter cable. It may need lubricated.

I have the same car, the only solution to this problem is to tighten the clutch cable nut just as necessary until you feel that you are able to shift smoothly without forcing it, make sure you start the car to test for that.

You might have to remove the air intake in order to access the clutch cable.

If you tighten the nut too much, your clutch will feel light and you will have clutch slips. So basically keep trying until you're there. You can loosen or tighten the nut while the car is running, I'd recommend.
