You can check on the speakers if there is any power light coming or not?
if in case not, there should be a power button on the speakers which you have to turn on.
or you can check again if you have connected the speakers in the correct port or not?

Sound problem in service pack 3

Yes, there are some Audio Cards which does not support Service Pack 3. You will have to check for the latest version of the Audio Driver or Audio Driver update. Some Providers will also provide the BIOS update to resolve the issue.

First check if the Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 is installed in the Computer and what is the version of the BIOS installed in the Computer.

To check the information about the Service Pack installed in the Computer:

Click on Start, type WINVER in the Search area and then press the Enter key.

Or

Please goto Start Menu, select 'All programs', select 'Accessories' to access 'Run' option and enter 'WINVER' and check whether Windows Vista SP1 or 2 is installed in the Computer.

To check the version of the BIOS installed in the Computer:

In the System Information window check the BIOS version.

If the installed BIOS version is not R0231Q0 or higher then install the BIOS update in the Computer from this Link.

This is a known issue with a VGN-CR series Computer when Audio may not work properly after installing Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Installing the BIOS update should resolve the issue.

If the issue still persists after installing the BIOS update then you may try installing the Audio Driver from this Link.

NOTE: Please first go for the BIOS update as it is a well known issue with a VGN-CR series Computers.

If the issue still persists, follow the steps as mentioned on this Link to resolve the issue.

Audio driver installation failed

Disable the device from the BIOS. Reboot and run a registry cleaner - use a good one like Easeus. Download -  as in Save, not Run - the latest version directly from Realtek. Physically disconnect your pc from the internet (shutdown the wireless or unplug the LAN cable/USB modem , shutdown you security soft, reboot and enable the device from BIOS. Try installing now using the downloaded installer.

Audio device is not working

I have been working on this for months and finally got everything including front audio panel going. First Download the latest realtek audio drivers available  from intel's website or go here and download #3 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2839&OSFullName=Windows%2A+XP+Home+Edition&lang=eng&strOSs=45&submit=Go%21. Next goto control panel and add/remove programs then look for realtek audio drivers that have been previously installed. Remove program if one is found. Then go to device manager (right click my computer, go to properties, Then hardware, then device manager. Click on the"+" in front of system devices. Find "microsoft uaa bus driver for high defintion audio". Right click that and select, "disable". Then right click it again and "unintstall" the device. This will allow you to install the audio drivers on your disc, or ones you have downloaded to install without an error message. Once done install your audio drivers and restart your PC and windows should start dectecting your new hardware. An installation wizzard pops up. Install the files needed yourself from a specific location, not a disk. It will ask for location of file name "hdaudbus.sys". That file is in C:/Windows/System32 folder. If it's not there, which it should be, just find and download that one file but it should already be there. I have done all this on xp home ed, sp3. I now have sound, and my front audio panel works. Please let me know if you have any problems by emailing me at chadmon10@hotmail.com
