I have a dell studio 1537 laptop with pre-installed vista. they have given me 2 drives -one to store data and the other that is the recovery drive. i want to install xp as well as vista on my laptop ? how can i do that.
i tried changing that (BIOS)sata mode from achi to ide by that dosent allow preinstalled win vista to boot.
And when i try to install xp normally by booting with a disk it shows the windows death screen.

try this first. download the latest webcam driver from the support site. uninstall the old driver then install the latest one. if fails, then download the system bios then install the latest bios to your laptop.
Check support.dell.com for drivers. Once you access the support page you will be ask to type in your service tag. After typing in your service tag it will show you the drivers you need to download and install. Look for the bluetooth module under category Network.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the driver for your Windows operating system. Click on this link :- http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
For windows xp to be compatabe with laptops or desktops with sata drives you will need a driver that is written to a floppy disk and inserted during the windows install it will prompt you to hit F6 during the install early on for additional drivers.
I looked on dells' site's support page for your laptop and unfortunately they do not support XP for your model. Even if you installed it none of your video, chipset, webcam, or audio would run correclty. you only have vista and 64 bit vista as an option.
Now this isnt to say you cant their is ways to find and make srivers work, but thats a very hard and time consuming process.
actually ur machine comes with SATA hard drive and i think that sata drive is not detected in win XP bcoz th einstallation disk is old and does not contain the sata drivers in it u can follow th einstructions on this link to slip stream sata raid drivers on the windows inst disk and then start to install
