Re: Optical Drive does not opent

If you had a CD in it, the CD may have wedged itself such that the tray cannot be extended. If it was empty, you may have a gear that is no longer making contact with the tray. I would remove it from the computer and look at taking the cover off the drive to see if the tray's path is obstructed.

How do I insert CD in computer? It doesn"t seem to have an open slot.

If there is no "Open" button for the drive then normally they are opened by pushing on the DVD/CD tray itself momentarily. It only needs a short positive push and the drive tray should slide out.

Can not open cd drive wont ejct

Get a large paperclip and poke it into the tiny hole to the left of the eject button. Keep pushing until it "connects" and it will open.

Disc Drive

If the eject button is not working, assuming this is a Windows based computer, click on start icon, your start menu will display, on right side under your user icon you should see Computer or My Computer, click on it.
You will now see all drives in your computer. Right click on your dvd(optical) drive. You should see an eject option.

If this dosen't work, close to the eject button on the drive is a tiny hole that will accept a paper clip, carefully push clip into hole until drive ejects.

How do you open the cd drive on a Studio 9100

If you had the original keyboard there are eject buttons on this, otherwise you click my computer , Then right mouse click on the optical drive and choose eject!

In general there "should be a button" on the drive itself but Dell may have made it a one touch command type of system where its done by software control's. Thus

1. MY computer
2. Right mouse click on the optical drive then select EJECT

I hope this was very helpful for you

How to eject a cd

If the button on the optical disk drive no longer work, then you can attempt to open the drive two different ways. You can open "Computer" by pressing the "Windows Key + E" or just opening it from the start menu. Right click your optical drive and then select, "Eject...".
If that doesn't work, take a paper clip and unfurl one end. Then, on the optical drive cover, look for a tiny hole, just big enough for the paper clip end to fit into. Press the paper clip into the hole until it pops out. I hope this help.

There is not an emergency DVD eject hole that is evident anywhere on the front or side of the Acer x1200 desktop. I have done this on other computers before so know what to look for. When I push the button...

Is your optical drive hidden by a panel? Some computers have this cover that should flip down when the drive opens and close when you close the drive. If this is the case, you need to get behind the cover to find the manual eject hole. For whatever reason, I can't get the Acer manual to load today so I can't quickly check how to remove the entire faceplate from the computer. is a good starting place.

Since the drive is recognized by the computer, I suspect the cover may need adjustment (or the cd tray isn't pushing hard enough).

I hope this helps.

I can't eject the optical drive to input dvd/cd, the eject button does not seem to be working? I also do not see the drive information on the START-COMPUTER window listing.

hi check the connection between your drive and motherboard also check power connector . Between connectors on the optic drive you need set up a jumper(s) on master or slave. if you can`t open drive in your OS there is a small hol on the front panel of the drive use needle or something similar to open it manualy
