SOURCE: cannot connect my wifi laptop to the wireless router

If you use your original Win XP disks, there's a chance you now have XP SP1 (Service Pack 1). Make sure you've made all the necessary Windows Updates as working with WiFi networks was enhanced with XP SP2. Then you can try to find your wireless network and connect to it. If you had a secured network you'll need your previous network key (similar to a password, but without a username, the wireless key is needed to exchange data with the router) If you can't remember the settings on your Linksys you can reset it to factory settings with inserting something into the reset hole to press the hidden buton and holding it for several seconds until lights on the front flash. Then you HAVE to run the initial install procedure (find your CD and Quick Start sheet) because your router will be open and unsecured.

SOURCE: wifi problem on dell inspiron 6000

Check the driver properties and make sure it is not turning off when idle. You could have router issues. Are you using a wireless router of your own? Are you putting in the password for the connection. I could go on and on about wireless problems. Wireless does not just pull the Internet out of the AIR like some people think. Get someone to help you that can use wireless and compare settings.

Hi i have compaq presario f500 laptop am unable to connect to wireless network. downloaded drivers still had same problem please help me

There is no simple answer, you will have to follow a procedure to hook things up.
Your wireless access point will have to be setup first, and then you will have to setup your various devices (like your Laptop) too.

If your are doing this all your self, web search for: "wifi connection tutorial"

If you got a "wireless router" from your Internet provider that might have a technical support number you can call to get help.

If you are trying to connect to an existing wifi like "Hotspot" at Starbucks or something you will need some kind of access code/key.
And maybe someone there will be able to help you.
And, or, web search: "How to Connect to a Wi-Fi Hotspot"

Worse comes to worse and you don't know the difference from "Wifi to Elbow" you could probably pay for local technician to come out and set things up for you (typically from $50 to $100 an hour).

If you are setting up your own make sure to get at least WEP (WPA is more secure) so your neighbors can't easily leech your wireless.

Please try these:
Under device manager, click on wireless LAN then select uninstall or properties-driver tab-uninstall. Then restart your laptop. If this is not possible,
Using a different laptop, please go to pcsupport.toshiba.com or support.toshiba.com - downloads - portables - select model - show results - downloads - then please click on the latest wifi driver - download. Please select save and save that driver to a disc then run it in your laptop. Restart laptop then hope it works.
Thank you.

Wifi connectivity problem

It's possible that the driver for your wireless adapter is already installed. Check under Device Manager > Network Adapters if there is anything pertaining to your wireless adapter. Make sure that your wireless adapter (under Device manager > Network adapters) does not have any red X or yellow question mark.

Red X indicated that it's disabled , while yellow question mark will suggest that you need to update the driver. If your wireless adapter is working properly under Device Manager > Network adapters then you will need to configure it's utility for wireless connection.

If you are running windows XP, look for the wireless icon in the lower right side of your task bar and use it to connect to your preferred network.

Good luck and have a nice day!

Wireless internet connection problem

You need to reinstall the wireless driver for your model laptop which you can find at the hp/compaq website. Just click on the link for support and provide information on the model of your laptop and you will be redirected to the proper web page that contains all the drivers for your particular laptop. I did this when my internal wifi did not respond when I pressed the wifi button. After installing the driver everything worked great.
