Dell inspiron M5030 won't charge, green light is

This is a common problem. It may be that the charger is dammaged. these Dell chargers have a micro thin communication cable in them that tell the charger to charge the battery. this micro thin cable can often break. Its use it to prevent the laptop battery from over charging, but if it breaks or becomed broken inside tha charger cable, then the laptop simply won't get the charge signal and the battery won't charge. If this is the case, then you will need to replace the charger with another Dell charger compatible with your laptop

Laptop not charging

Hello there,

My dear friend, there are basically three things to check on this laptop if it tends not to charge. Which are the charger, the battery and the laptops charging connection port.

You need to test them to find out which is faulty, it might be one of them or two or all. carry out the following test on them.

Try to charge the laptop using another charger to see if that will charge it. If it charges it, then it means your charger is bad and need to be replaced. Then try to use your charger on another laptop to confirm if it truly is a problem with the charger. If the charger does not work, then all you have to do is to replace it with a new one, but if it charges, it means it is some other component that is faulty. If you charger is faulty, have it checked to know if it is a bad capacitor that needs to be replaced if it is not, then replace the charger with a new one.

Next to test is the battery, if the laptop comes on when you plug the charger in, and the laptop works normally but as soon as the charger is disconnected it goes off, then it means the battery is bad and is not holding a charge. Try to insert the battery into another laptop to see if it will work there, then try to charge it there to see if it will hold a charge. If it does not, that confirms the battery problem and the solution to that is for you to replace the battery as there is not way to have it fixed.

Then finally, the charging connection port, that sometimes gives a fault when there is a high voltage that hits the laptop when connected to the power supply. To confirm this, have a well tested charger connected to the laptop, to see if it will charge, if it does not charge that confirms it, but if it does, then it means the connection port is okay. But if it is not working, then it means the port needs to be replaced and that needs a very careful process for it to be repaired.

Hope this was helpful to you.
Goodluck
Elect_Comp
My compaq cq40 laptop charger is not working

Before you make a decision about the next step, maybe you would like to know why the laptop charger is not working. Here are some commonly found reasons for this problem.
 • You have been using the wrong laptop charger for your machine, or someone else has been using your laptop charger for another machine. This may seem like a harmless act, but it affects the battery on your laptop, and charger you are using as well.
 • Your laptop battery has become weak and worn out from excessive use. Due to this the battery is not charging at all (or charging very slowly) when you plug in the charger. In this case there is absolutely nothing wrong with the charger itself.
 • The wire of the laptop charger has got a distinct curve at one point, and this is restricting it from transmitting power. You need to look out for such bends in the wire, as this will ruin the efficiency of the charger in no time.
 • This may sound elemental and stupid to some, but it does happen to many people. Maybe you are simply using the wrong laptop charger by mistake, or maybe you have failed to switch on the power switch. Check both these things to be sure.
Any of these potential causes could be the reason behind your laptop charger not working. As a result of these, either the mains power lead of your charger may be damaged, or the power supply unit may be damaged, or maybe the lead itself is damaged or broken somewhere, or some circuitry inside the laptop is damaged, and not responding to the charger. It's hard to accurately tell which of these problems could be the real cause of your laptop battery not charging, without physically examining the machine.

Solutions and Answers

Now if you are well versed in computer hardware you can attempt to fix this yourself. Most people cannot do this, and it is advisable for them to visit a computer repair shop instead. They will examine the laptop charger not working problem, and suggest some suitable remedies for it. Depending on your budget, you can choose an option that suits you and simultaneously solves your problem. Here are some recommended solutions.
 • Buy a brand new charger which will definitely solve your problem of charging the laptop for a long time.

Battery will not charge.plugged in not charging

Does the computer start anyway, but it's just that the battery won't charge? If that's the case, it's probably a bad battery.

A procedure to do before assuming a bad battery is to (1) remove the battery, (2) disconnect the power supply from the computer, and (3) press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. This resets the logic circuits in the internal power handling section. If that doesn't help either, then the battery is probably bad.

If the computer isn't starting, however, it could be that the power supply has failed. Check the voltage output on the power supply.

Hope that's helpful.

My daughters Acer wont charge so the battery is dead. The laptop wont even come on when the charger is plugged in but i have an Acer an charged her battery in mine then it charged and it worked in hers. Is...

first try to use your charger into another laptop, if the the another laptop was charged using your charger, it means your battery is the problem, but if it is still not charging it means the problem is your charger. then try your battery to use it into another laptop, as same as the i mention in the charger, if they or both fine, maybe the problem is the batery terminal of your laptop.

My battery pack not charging

Hello,

If your battery pack is not charging, the problem can be from either the charger, the battery or the charging port on the laptop.

To test and repair if it is the charger, try to use the same charger on another laptop to see if it will work, if it does not, then the problem is from the charger. Try to have it open to see if the cords positive and negative wires are not having any kind of partial contact, if it is, then, you have to separate them and solder them where they are supposed to be. Or better still, replace the charger.

To test and repair if it is the battery, use the same battery in another laptop and try to charge it to see if it will hold a charge. If it does not, then you know it is the battery. The only solution to fix a battery is just for you to replace it.

To test the charging port, place a well tested okay battery in the laptop, get a well tested charger, then connect them to the laptop to see if it will work. If it does not, then it is obvious that it is the charging port that has a problem. To fix that, you have to get a replacement charging port, and dismantle the laptop, replace the charging port with a new one, then reassemble it back together.

Take care and good luck.
