Question about Sigma Sport BC 1009 STS Wireless Computer

2 Answers

My sigma 1009 sts bike computer is not registering my speed, distance traveled, average speed, or maximum speed. The clock is working but total distance and total time are not increasing while I am riding. I installed a new battery with no results.

I had the same problem and nothing was working except the clock. Speedometer did not flash 0 like it is supposed to when connected to mount. Tried everything I could think of and wasted 4 hours. Turned out that the computer mount was attached backwards on the handle bar. Sigma letters should be in the front of the bike. Turned it around and all worked fine! Doh!

Check the wires and sensors.

Here is the link to Sigma Sport. They have a good customer service and I would discuss directly with them. That way whatever is determined you cut out several steps and either get the unit replaced or fixed properly with advice that is direct from the source.

This may also be a warranty situation in which case again you will eventually need to go through Sigma Sport.

You have done all the normal things that make sense to diagnosing the problem, sounds more like the problem is internal. One thing to also keep in mind, electronics like this do wear out and sometimes they just start to die off. This may also be the case, but Sigma Sport will be able to tell you.

Good luck

Without input from the wheel sensor it will not calculate anything. If it's wireless maybe it lacks a good line of sight or it's too far away. Take it off the handlebar, prop the bike so you can spin the wheel and hold the computer close to the transponder to see if it indeed CAN see it. Then work out the distance or line of sight issue.

Don't fixate on your computer once you get it working. I destroyed a bike frame when I crashed while watching my first bike computer at the end of a ride.

SOURCE: Hi, My sigma bc 1009 sts

Well, it IS wireless. Perhaps the distance or line-of-sight isn't right. As a test, hold the receiver in your hand and hold it closer to the spinning wheel transmitter.

Not registering speed

Check your magnet is aligned with and adequately close to the sensor, and that the sensor is not too far from the computer. Also check batteries. Try taking the computer off the bars and moving it nearer to the sensor to see if it is a range problem.

Syncing with Sigma BC1009

Had this same problem and nothing worked after trying everything I could think of. Speedometer would never display a blinking 0 (just stagnant). Turned out the computer mount on the handle bar was turned around backwards. The sigma letters go towards the front of the bike. Placed the device in the mount, the 0 started blinking and sync'd up with sensor. Finally works!

If the computer is new return it. If not and you have tried a fresh battery on the sending unit and mounting the sending unit as high as possible on the fork, there's really nothing else to try. Check warranty.

You want to make sure the magnet on the front wheel is being picked by the receiver on the fork. Sometimes that magnet attached to the spoke will move on the spoke so that it no longer closely passes by the receiver. If the magnet has been lost, check with you can check with your local bike shop for an extra.
