Replace thermal fuse for LG microwave LMV1813ST

If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won't start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don't resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too. (Caution: The microwave oven can store thousands of volts of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the line fuse.)

How do I replace fuse

Well you need to find where the fuse is located, And determine what type of fuse is being used. So you know what fuse you need to buy to replace it.

Blown HV fuse

I would replace it with a fuse of the same 5kv.09 as replacing with another may overload the microwave and cause a fire.

not recommended to replace with a higher fuse rating or kind

If you know that a fuse is open, you need to find out why it went out before replacing it. There are typically three fuses in any given microwave oven. Line or monitor fuse, cavity temp fuse and magnetron temp fuse.

The fuse inside was blown and on opening found the blown fuse broken. replaced it and it is working. however the blown fuse was smaller in size while we replaced with a bigger size. does it matter???

you must replace the FUSE with the same capacity for example: you will see in the metal fuse the incription 240vac-15amp see if the fuse is Ceramic or Glass, you CAN not use 125vac,10amp or 20amp, the circuit WILL not protect the electronic system, and will dammed another section. Please rectify this INMEDIATELY.
God bless you

The food in the microwave is not heating up I have tested the fuse (F8AH250V) and found that it has blown. Is it safe to replace this fuse (F8AH250V) on my microwave.

Fuses seldom just go bad on their own, but it's safe to replace. Before you replace the fuse, squeeze the tabs of the fuse holder clips together a bit. Sometimes they don't grip the fuse tightly enough, and this can cause heating which damages the fuse. If the fuse blows again there is a bad part in the oven that will need to be located and replaced. For a small countertop oven, it's probably more economical just to replace the oven than to repair it.
