Bobbin case

Is it the whole case or just the bobbin? There are several things that can cause this. Your bobbin case may not be seated evenly. Check that all four sides rest evenly in the basket. You may not have inserted it properly, so that the "nub" or "hook" rests against the spring, which is there to prevent the case from spinning. The spring itself may have popped out; if so, it's an easy matter to put it back in again.

Most Barcaloungers have a foot rest mechanism spring on right and left side. Look on the opposite side and see if you can locate the same spring to reinstall.

I cannot figure out how the shank attaches to the pressure foot.

Make sure you get a foot designed for this Singer sewing machine. Then for snap-on feet, push down slightly on the front of the foot then pull forward (with some you pull to the left). To insert a new foot, push the foot towards the connector (back or to the right) and then push the back of the foot up (once in contact with the connector) while still moving into the connector. (You should feel the spring lift up and snap around the foot.)

For shanked feet, loosen the thumbscrew and slide the open side over the screw and press against the shaft. Then tighten the thumbscrew.

I hope this helps.

(my older Singer uses a snap-on zig-zag foot. This foot gets pushed in from the front . Keep the foot below the shank until you have the bars centered around the base of the shank. Then bring the foot up and push back until it snaps into place. There is a horizontal rod between the bars and the shanks locks around that rod. The rest of the feet are shanked.)

Need interior diagram of Sunbeam MixMaster Model 2486

Here's the solution. The spring controls the beater eject button. The spring is mounted on the metal shaft and is oriented so that the straight side of the spring rests along the white plastic part adjacent to the shaft, and the curved side of the spring points outward and downward so that it will rest against the case when the unit is reassembled. See photo.
