Probably bad compressor or sealed system problem.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper)
between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through
it. There is a flap you adjust with the
fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the
fridge temp.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer
are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of
cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In
most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board.
If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks
and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace
the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the
timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Hey Guys, I have a Maytag Bottom Freezer / Refrigerator Model #MBB2256GEQ Serial #10155937AL That runs constantly I cleaned the coils then I turned the defrost timer clockwise until the refrigerator and freezer shut down, it was supposed to go into defrost mode I'm not sure if that happened after approximately 20 min, the refrigerator started up again however it does not keep things cold and is not keeping the food in the freezer frozen it's keeping it semi-frozen. I am not sure if it's the thermostat or the defrost timer. I believe I found where the thermostat is but if anyone can tell me where the thermostat is located on this unit. I would greatly appreciate it and if they can tell me where the defrost timer is located I would greatly appreciate that too and how I can change that out I would greatly appreciate that or whatever suggestions they may have that would solve the problem thank you

not much to do, if you've turned it up and it don't help out any, check it on the evap core (big tank in back hole) if any lines are frozen, its low in freon, if not and its not even getting above room temperature then it could either be the switch relay or could be completely out of freon and its not worth fixing, cost more than getting a new one. I found a GE at big lots for under 100 and it has a seperate freezer from the fridge (like a full size shrunk) that works nicely and i've had it for quite some time. Around 3 years i guess.
