Turn off ref. defrost and remove all ice from drain area. you might have to remove rear panel. chip as much ice from drain hole then microwave water to near boil and use a little at a time till water flows freely.

Show a picture of the drain tube so I can access it with the back of the refrigerator off

There should be a tube, that leads to a defrost pan, under the box. Follow it up to the freezer. If the freezer is still freezing, you may never get it unclogged.

Have 20 yr old GR refrigerator and the drain tube may be plugged. We tried cleaning it but water is still dripping to bottom of frig. What should we do?

Sometimes there is a grommet between the inside and outside of the refrigerator especially on older GE refrigerators. If you look at the back of the refrigerator and there is a grommet on the back with a tube coming from it then that is what you have. GE put a trap in the grommet and you will more than likely have to pull this off and flush it out. It should be fairly easy to pull it out and push it back in.
Other than that you will have to pour hot water in the drain until it thaws out.

You will most likely have to remove the rear panel in the freezer and pour hot water in the drain trough until the drain clears up and the water drains down the drain tube.

How to unclog drain tube on model psw26psta

Hi,

I use compressed air, you can use canned air but might be difficult to force all the air down the tube. I have also used a steam gun which works great.
For the canned air you would need to close off the inlet side with a rag or something to allow all the air pressure down the tube to clear that tube out.
GE has a "S" shaped tube behind the unit by the compressor, this can get clogged from time to time. I would look there as well.
I hope this helps you, good luck.

Frozen water in bottom of freezer

Every ten to twelve hours your refrigerator activates a heating element around the evaporator to defrost the accumulation of frost that develops on the evaporator. Behind the back panel there is an evaporator pan it has a rubber grommet with a hole in it this is your defrost drain hose it is clogged. Unplug or switch refrigerator off at breaker panel, remove panel covering evaporator area (rear panel in freezer), use a hair dryer or hot water to unclog defrost drain a turkey baster works well to make sure the hose is unclogged.
the water that drains down this hose accumulates in the defrost drain pan in the base of the refrigerator under normal operation the heat from the refrigeration system evaporates this water. The drain pan has a limited capacity so do not poor more than 20-20oz of hot water down the hose after you unclog it. If you poor to much it wont hurt anything just make a mess youll have to clean up.
