I am trying to copying onto a CD-R disc that already has a small file on it. Using CD burning software I can not copy any more files onto disc. Why is this and how can I overcome the problem for this disc and others in the future.

While you write on cd first time, there is a option, whether you mant to make it a multisession ( add files later ) or not.

you have to make it multisession on the first time of write.

If you did not do it, then, you can not add files after the first burning.

Hope it is clear to you. if not please comment with your question here or make a Rating if your problem is solved :D

How do I format a dvd disc

You don't have to. DVD's and CD's are already formatted from factory. But if you are having problems to record on (burn) them probably your computer is not capable for DVD burn, just CD's. But if it is equipped for burning then try this:
See alsoFormat a CD or DVD

Before you can copy files to a CD or DVD, the disc must first be prepared using a process called formatting. There are several ways to format a CD or DVD disc. Your choice of format determines which computers and other devices will be able to read the disc.

  1. Insert a disc into your computer's CD or DVD drive.

  2. In the dialog box that appears, click Burn files to disc.

  3. In the Burn a disc dialog box, type a name for your new disc.

  4. Click Show formatting options, and then click one of the following formatting options:

    • Live File System

    • Mastered

  5. Click Next to prepare the disc.

Now you can copy files to your disc using whichever method you selected.

I have several files on the computer which I would like to move to a CD....i.e. pictures, or documents. I am doing something wrong because it does not allow me to copy a file to a CD???? probably my lack...

You have to burn the files to a CD, if you have Windows XP or Vista it should do this for you, the reason you are getting the error is because unlike the hard drive, the CD is not a read / write device (ie once you copy files there they are there forever, unless you are using a re-recordable cd)
You must have a CD drive that is capable of recording data, this will be a CDRW or a DVDRW drive, most computers now have these, but if yours is only a DVDRom or a CDROM, you will not be able to copy.

To burn files to disc, Put a CD in the drive
Then get all the files you want to copy and put them in a folder (saves time)
Now click on the CD drive icon in MY computer (right click and open)
Drag the contents of the folder you created onto the cd drive which you have opened
You may get asked to format the disc, this is normal (prepare the disc)
You will then see the files you have added (says "files ready to be burned to disc")
Right mouse click on the empty space in the area where the files have been added and a menu will come up, with the command "burn to disc"
Once complete the disc will eject and you need to press finish

You can add about 700MB of files onto each CD

I can not record a ISO image in my GH22N550

Try using this software, Image Burn. It works for me every time. I gave up on all others. This program will burn ISO's to ISO's, it will burn ISO's to Boot Disks, it will make files into ISO's, it does it all.

Also, just to clear up the term, when you burn a ISO you are generally trying to make a bootable disk, you are not actually burning the ISO, but expanding and burning the files onto a CD or DVD that you will use to install something on another computer.

How do you copy Youtube videos to DVDs using 123 Copy DVD Gold?

You usually download youtube vids as FLV files, there are plenty of free file conversion programs to change flv to avi or whatever format you want, you can then burn them onto a disc.
I have never used your software, so i am not sure if it handles flv files. If your dvd player will play avi/divx files, you could convert then to avi and burn them as a data disc using ant burning software, i use free software for this. CD burner XP and imgburn.
It sats this about your software..
  • Copy ANY DVD.
  • Burn YouTube videos to DVD.
  • Copy episodic shows like The Sopranos or *** and the City.
  • Autofit technology gives you the best possible quality.
  • Convert ANY DVD to DivX, AVI, Windows Media (WMV), and MPEG.
  • Burn videos downloaded from the internet to DVD.
  • Blu-Rays Upgradeable (Copy Blu-Ray Movies).
  • Copy DVD to Hard Disk.
So your software should be able to burn your dvd, there should be a HELP menu on the software.

Why cant I write onto my blank DVD disk I have windows XP and DVD R in my DELL writable drive.Im trying to copy about 1 gig of JPEGS onto the disk. The disc is MAXELL 4.75 GB DVD R. Im using windows XP....

It doesn't matter what name or brand the disc is. All it matters that it is a writable disc. If you had aldready written previous files on that DVD disc and then it was compiled, it wont write again. When the computer requests to compile a disc, say no, otherwise you wont be able to write more data on the same disc. The same goes if you have selected a CD to burn. There are 3 ways to do so. Try copy and paste, drag and drop the file to the DVD icon or CD icon, or right click on the file to be burned and select 'Send to...' choose the DVD drive, (D:), see what happens.

Unable to Boot

I think you burn into CD\DVD is incorrect. Recopy any Software is OK using ISO, but to find out that your burn that into proper ISO also, It will not work. To burn is again is extracted from ISO back to Bootable Windows Vista DVD.
Here is a a tip, use another program like Nero to burn into image, the file is .NRG or .ISO...
Or for easy tip, try COPY DISC for assurance that it will run again as is.
Good luck!

Using roxio creator basic v9 when i burn disc its writing to the disc (700MB) without giving free space,i just made a copy of original cd which has 162MB,after writing to new disc, showing 700MB used..

Burned CDs always show as being fully used. That is so users don't think they can just copy files onto it. The way to find out how much free space is to subtract the amt. of space used from the capacity of the CD. Also most CDs are burn-once so after you burn it you can't add or delete files anyway. Only CD or DVD "RW" (read-write) discs allow you to re-use them.
