1. Remove the bulb and check to make sure the brass contacts are not corroded (green color/white).
2. You MAY have got a bad replacement bulb. Happened to me at AutoZone...
3. Your next step would be to get a circuit tester (or borrow one from the parts store) and see if you have current at the bulb receptacle.
Beyond that, it is probably a broken wire or connection somewhere in the vehicle. To trace it takes some skill and special equipment. It should be an easy fix but sometimes life deals you a lemon...

Hi got ford focus 2001 1.6 now for the problem the left hand rear back light wont come on at all stop light on it works fine any ideas pls could it be the bulb holder tried changing bulb but still no

Are you certain that the correct bulb was installed? You need to look the bulb number up on a chart for the vehicle. Your bulb should have 2 nubs on the base if it's a dual function bulb.
And how exactly did you check the wiring? If you did a visual inspection only and not test it with a voltmeter, then have a mechanic have a look at it. That won't cost much at all.

My son has a 2003 Focus 1.8 tdci left hand drive because he lives in France. The right hand rear light is not working; but the bulb is OK. Any ideas I could help him with?

Not many electrical problems with the Focus...:) Depending on the climate He lives in...many times the bulb socket will become contaminated with corrosion...best try would be to clean out the socket and wipe dry...then use bulb lubricant when putting bulb back in socket...try wiggling bulb in the socket...this will confirm the problem...most sockets are cleanable...but can be replaced...:)

Driver's side headlights don't work, although indicators do!

The most common fault is ground use a test light at the plug it should show you what is missing. Most garages should be able to hande it in about an hour.

only one light not working indicates a bad circuit at the plug on the back of the light housing or in the wiring between the light and the dash swith
