Question about Monte Carlo (5CMR56OP) Carmel Old World Pewter Fan

1 Answer

I have a Monte Carlo 60" Arch Fan. Both the lights and the fan stopped working. There is power getting to the unit, and the remote has a good battery. I may have had some water drip onto the fan at some time, the roofer didn't do a very good job at replacing the shingles. What parts should I be looking at troubleshooting?

You need a new receiver for the remote.

SOURCE: Light on fan.

Most likely, the dimmer control has failed and needs replacing. Would be good to check its output voltage first.

SOURCE: remote control wall unit does not turn on Monte

Are the manual switches on the fan in the 'on' position?

Select the maximum fan speed on the remote and then operate the manual switch on the fan. Set that to the highest speed then control it with the remote.

Same theory applies to the light.

If this is not the problem then the remote receiver on the fan is probably faulty.

Remote won't operate lights or fan.

Sorry, but this isn't a solution. I am a caretaker at a house that has 13 fans with these controls. In a nutshell,30% of them stop working and do exactly what you are describing. I have never been given a satisfactory answer from monte carlo. The only thing that has helped is I now carry and extra remote with me that I know works since some of my fans are over 15 feet up and I have no ladder that high. I then change change the code to match the one of the fan that I need used. I'm sorry, but this is what I have been dealing with for 4 years. If you have only 1 fan this probably won't help at all.

Ideas? Yep. Shut down fan power at the source (fuse, breaker, etc.). Turn on fan power again. You should be back in operation

Monte Carlo ceiling fan and light not working

Even a brief power outage can cause amnesia in the receiver. You can try disconnecting power at the source and spending a few minutes removing the battery from the wall-mounted remote and pressing all buttons to eliminate the 'stuck button' problem. Reinstall the remote battery and reconnect main power to the unit. Test operation.
Lastly, there always is the possibility that some gremlin changed your original control setup.

Remote control wall unit does not turn on Monte Carlo fan or light although red light comes on when buttons are pushed (fan and light worked for about 2 years although it was hardly ever used).Frank

Check all fuses using a test light. If good, turn on fan and check for power at the blower motor connector. There all the wires there as each one is for different speed. If good, blower might be bad. If no power, check switch itself for continuity. Keep me informed.

FAN STOP TURNING

Hi! try old fashioned way, take a stick and try to run the fan with it and when it catches up some speed then turn it on. Or else tap on the face plate of your fan and else check for any loose connections or any oil leak from fan's capacitor.
