Question about Maytag Centennial Top Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a Maytag Centennial Washer (2009) on which I replaced the solenoid part three months ago. At that time the pipes in the house would knock when the washer was filling with water. Now the washer will not fill with water at all. I have checked the hoses and strainers, and these are fine. The washer will agitate and spin, just no water. Should the solenoid be replaced again, or could there be another problem keeping the water from entering the washer?

I would check the solenoid is working and from that it will be obvious where the issue lies.

Replace the "water inlet valve" on your machine. If you could post your model number I can point you to the part you need.

SOURCE: centennial washer, will fill with water, wont spin

Easy fix. Lid switch is bad. This is a direct drive machine. Older models would wash but not spin these latest babys won't wash or spin with the lid switch broken. To access te switch you flip up the control by using a putty knife to release each end. Older models had a screw that needed to be removed, not so with the newest ones. The switch has 2 hot wires and a ground wire. Jump them 2 hot wires and see if she runs

Hi

May be a plugged Pressure Hose connected to the Water Level Switch in the Control Panel,
other end connects to Tub. Try blowing through the Pressure Tube .
This problem is going to be in the water level control or the tube that connects to the control may be partially clogged. if it is partially clogged the tube can retain pressure essentially fooling the water level control into thinking the tub is full. The best thing to do is to take the washer apart and check the tube to see if it is clogged and if not replace the water level control.

It definitely could be a clogged or bad pump. However, it's always a good idea to check for error codes before replacing a part...Especially expensive ones...

Repair manual Where I can download the repair manual for the maytag centennial washer

This is a manual. Since there are so many versions, you might need to search for the appropriate one. I searched for "Maytag centennial top load washer repair manual". There was a Maytag site, but download was very slow. http://applianceassistant.com/ServiceManuals/8178628_ml-3_maytag_centennial_top-load_washer.pdf#zoom=100#scrollbar=1#toolbar=1 http://applianceassistant.com/ServiceManuals/8178628_ml-3_maytag_centennial_top-load_washer.pdf

Maytag Centennial Top Load Washer drains as it fills.

The water is probably siphoning out of the tub. Your drain pipe is either too low or the drain hose is down too far into the pipe. Take the drain hose out of the pipe and lift it high. I'll bet your problem goes away

Why is Maytag Centennial 3.2 cu. ft. SuperSize Capacity Plus Top Load Washer shaking during spin cycle

check to make sure it is sitting level on the floor and one leg adjuster hasnt backed in making it shake. But even when you stick cloths in evenly they can bunch up during cycles.

hi,
usually most areas have a USED appliance store. usually these guys will have a bunch of old fridges and stoves around outside the store. Our town has three or four of them. you may have to ask around but these guys usually have parts for cheap. and they will sometimes make house calls. try googling used appliances in your area. they may also set you up with a cheaper washer with a METAL tub.

good luck

Washer is 8 months old. Three bad pumps

I would call Maytag directly and ask them to replace this washer for you or have them provide FREE to you, at least a lifetime warranty on the pump and a five year warranty on the rest of the washer parts. Sounds like you got a lemon unless you wash lots of rugs or have a hair salon. If this is the case, you won't be able to get a new warranty, but if it is NOT the case, I'd take this all the way to the head of Maytag and they should make this right for you. I hope this turns out well for you, I'd like to know the outcome. The best of luck to you!
