When I open my htc aria's camera it's always landscape and when I turn it on 90 degrees it's backwards

sorry, you have not provided enough information. So, here is a simple answer, hold the camera so that the long side is parallel to the ground, that is landscape mode. Portrait mode is the short side parallel with the ground, thus rotate the camera 90 degrees.

All cameras work the same way, it is the position we the shooter holds the camera.

WHEN i TAKE LANDSCAPE REPLY SHOWS PORTRET AND WHEN PORTRET TAKEN REPLY IS ALSO TURNED 90 DEGREES PLEASE ADVISE that Further to crhendo1's Findind's - i have found that if Picture with the EXIF Orientation set to "lower left" (ie one that needs Rotating) is first imported into iPhoto or Aperture and then displayed on the ATV (ie iTunes is set up to share/stream from iPhoto or Apeture)- all is fine - ie picture is displayed correctly rotated.
However, if the pic - left as a Jpeg - is place in a folder - on a Macbook Pro, or a Windows PC - and iTunes is set up to share/stream from that folder - then the picture will be displayed on its side
Futher more - if you then export the Picture from the iPhoto/Apeture Library - and put it in a the folder it is also displayed correctly rotated

Try to open the youtube in the browser(m.youtube.com) instead of app, becaue HTC aria processor doesnt support the FLASH.

To take a picture in portrait mode, you just have to turn the camera 90 degrees. When you view the pics, the camera will automatically make the picture upright for viewing but it will still be a portrait.
