Re: motherboard

Hello. now whey your computer is on type this into run on your start menu: msinfo32 this will give you all the system info you need, now cross reference it this with the info on this page: now you said that the guy at the store cant do anything, well then he is in breach of the EUA support rules and if you have your slip etc he must take it back! your board is faulty, and remember to tell the store keeper, its always been broken. its always beef faulty, etc. and none of it was your fault! the board is damaged or dead due to factory errors, or handling. but!!! i do hope you have checked your USB drivers in your DEVICE MANAGER? this is found in administrative tools, and computer management, at the bottom of the list their will be usb drivers make sure they are installed, for xp see: the site is a little hard to find stuff on but everything you need is! there. regards lamb.

The most probable cause would be SMPS since you have already flushed the BIOS

Look on Chapter 1, page 1-22, see that Block of jumpers at the top, right, look carefully there you will see ATX Power Switch *, thats where the Power Switch goes, OK. The manual I used is below, maybe DL it so we are both on same page.

Asus M2N / Antec SP-350

Things to try:

1. Check that the cpu fan is properly connected to the correct port marked CPU FAN.

2. Make sure the power cables are connected correctly to the motherboard.

3. Test the button switch with a multi-tester to make sure that it tests good.

4. Make sure the power switch is connected to the correct pins on the motherboard.

5. With the computer off pop the cr2032 battery out and pop it back in after a few minutes.

6. Test the power supply with either another motherboard or a power supply tester.

7. Test the motherboard with another power supply.

8. If all else fails replace the motherboard I have had a bad one from time to time even out of the box, and if you have a spare cpu you may want to test with that also. Cpu's hardly ever go bad I think I have had two go bad ever, not counting power surges and storm damage.

To many people are having big problems with service pack 3 and that's why I get to choose what get's installed. I will NOT put service pack 3 in any of my pc's till all the problems are gone.

You need to get rid of it, and go back to service pack 2, and the only help I found was this,

Good luck and hope this helps
