Copy and paste between different workbooks

I've got a problem in "copy & paste" between different workbooks in MS Excel 2007. When I paste a range of cells with equayions in a second workbook, it pastes only numbers not the equations. Why is that happening only in 2007 but not in previous versions? Thanks. My email is namso@xtra.co.nz. Cheers

    Thanks PatKam_Au for replying back to my query.

    When you copy and paste using the paste special you get a diagonal box with different selections where one of them is the "Fomula" paste. That was the case in Excel XP & Excel 2007 Professional. I'm using Excel Ofiice Small Business where I get a dialouge box different than what I used to get doing so with a list of items not including formula pasting. Please advise what to do? Thanks again

    Hi PatKam_AU.... I just wanted to thank you so much for your time to find a solution to my problem. The equations I'm copying and pasting are not part of micros. Just equations from MS Excel commands.Its Office Small Business with Excel 2007 Version 12. I hope you can help as I'm struggling much. Thank you again. Cheers

    What are the names of the "equations" it is in the source? If they are from within the Macro functions then you will need to make copy of the macro modules into the target spreadsheet.


    I have not yet encountered the Excel Office Small Biz version, but I believe they shuold be compatible. What the version number of the Small Biz version? (Office 2003 = 11, Office 2007 = 12)

    Have you tried to Paste -> Formulas instead of just Paste?

There should be 2 paste options when you right click in the new workbook - 'paste' and 'paste special'

choose 'paste special' and make sure that 'All' is selected not 'values'

How Repair of Excel file?


If there was such problem, the simplest decision is described here:

Excel workbook error


I came across this issue today. An update to the Office Compatibility Pack that was still on a computer caused the default PROGRAM for .docx and .xlsx files to be the Microsoft Open XML Converter program and make the "Default Programs" in Control Panel think that Excel and Word were actually the Microsoft Open XML Converter scholarship essay writing assistance program as well.UNINSTALLING the Office Compatibility Pack in Programs and Features and then a simple reboot fixed the issue.
Also:
1: Try to repair it manually when MS Excel does not automatically STARTS File recovery mode.
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click OPEN.
Now select the corrupted workbook that you want to open.
Click the arrow NEXT to the Open button, and then click Open and Repair.
Choose either Repair (to recover as much of the FILE data) or Extract data (to extract values and formula when repair process is not successful).
2: Open with Open Office: Try to open your Excel file in Open Office. It is an open-source Office suite that is able to open & SAVE Microsoft Excel files.
3: Save in HTML Format: Open your Excel file and save it in HTML format. By saving the workbook in HTML format, you may be able to filter out the corrupted elements.
4: Save in SYLK Format: Open your Excel file and save it in SYLK format. By saving the workbook in SYLK format, you may be able to filter out the corrupted elements.
5: Try 3rd party software like Excel Repair Toolbox

1. Open a blank Excel workbook by selecting "New" from the "File" menu.
2. Drag and drop the .shs file on to the new workbook by highlighting the scrap file icon on the desktop and dragging it onto the worksheet. Alternatively, you can copy and paste. To do this, click the scrap file icon, and then right-click and select "Copy" from the pop-up menu. Left-click on the Excel workbook, and then right-click and select "Paste" from the pop-up menu. The information stored in the scrap file should now appear within the worksheet.
3. Save the file. Select "Save As" from the "File" menu, and then enter a file name in the box at the top of the window that opens. By default, Excel saves files in the workbook format native to the version. For versions prior to Microsoft Office 2007, this is the .xls format. If you have Excel 2007 or later and want to save the file as .xls, select this format from the "Format" drop-down menu below the box where you entered the file name.

I want to copy an Excel chart as a Image onto a PowerPoint Slide (Office 2007). What is the sequence of APIs to apply?

  1. In Excel, select the worksheet data that you want to copy to a PowerPoint presentation.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy za006044679.gif.

    • To paste a static picture, click Device Independent Bitmap or Bitmap, or to paste a picture that can be ungrouped, click Picture (Enhanced Metafile) or Picture (Windows Metafile).
    • To paste the data as formatted or unformatted text, click Formatted Text (RTF) or Unformatted Text.

MS EXCEL 2000 corrupted workbooks/worksheets


it sounds like you are going over the limits of the program these are the specs. I would recommend dividing up the data if you can. or moving it to a database that can act like excel and hold more data.
