Memory card formatted in error

When putting the memory card into the hp 1350 to download we received a memory card error, we then put the card back into the camera and the camera asked FORMAT ? and my husband formated the memory card. Are we unable to retrieve these pictures. Are these pictures lost ? can we recover them ?

Mine is having the same problem. I've bought 2 different memory cards. Camera keeps saying unable to format. I've tried to go through steps given to format camera, ect. no luck. Verrry frustrating! Any suggestions??

we also encountered the same format error when we inserted two brand new olympus memory cards. our camera store was quick to tell us that Olympus no longer makes memory cards that are compatible with the c-740 (don't know if this is true), but it certainly makes sense. Our old card, which stores 20 pictures works great. Our solution, was to purchase a new Sony camera and moan about the money we spent on the olympus.

On my digimax v500 "It says to press OK to format the card - when that is done then in the window it says "CHECK SD CARD" Well, it's the same card I used before after I downloaded the pictures but now the card isn't being accepted.

Once the memory card is formatted, the files saved or pictures will be deleted and there is no way to retrieve the images.

I would advise that you transfer the pictures first to your PC before formatting the memory card.

When you have formatted a memory card in error the pictures can be retrieved again. using and your pc. You can download and application online to do this. Just do not take any pictures with the memory stick as you will over write the lost pictures. I am using card recovery to find my lost pictures.

Download a copy of CardRecovery (@ www.cardrecovery.com). The free trial will allow you to determine if any of the photos are retrievable. If they are, buy the software. The software can do exactly what it says it can do: "It can effectively recover lost, deleted, corrupted or formatted photos and video files from various memory cards."

Maybe.  I answered an earlier post suggesting a free program Zero Assumption Recovery.  It worked brilliantly for me.  Formatting the card could cause problems, but it will be worth trying.  BTW, don't take any new pictures until you have attempted the recovery or you will certainly have lost your pictures.
Good luck

I had this problem too. I ended up using a refrigerator magnet, strongest one I had on hand, to scramble the card. The camera then recognized the card as a brand new unformatted card and formatted it as usual.

When putting the memory card into the slot, the screen reads 'memory card error'. Also, will not read the camera when plugged into USB socket. Please Help!

Hi there,
The camera port only supports USB-equipped digital cameras that support Pict-Bridge. If you attach a USB device that is not compactible digital camera (or Bluetooth adaptor) to the camera port, an error message appears on the color graphics display. If you have an older HP-brand digital camera, try using the USB that came with the camera. PLug it into the USB port on the back of the HP-all-in-one and not into the camera port near the memory card slots, This works with HP digital cameras only.
By default, Windows XP will format a memory card of 8 MB or less and 64 MB more with the FAT32 format, Digital cameras and other devices use the FAT (FAT 16 or FAT 12) format and cannot operate with a FAT32 formatted card. Either format your memory card in your camera or select FAT format to format your memory card in a Windows XP PC.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
Have a good day.

I have downloaded my pictures from my camera in error and now want to put them back into the camera - any ideas? Thanks Camera is an Olympus Stylus 700 Digital Camera PC is currently running Windows Vista.

Take out memory card from camera, put it in any generic memory card reader, plug it with computer, click My Computer and find any new drive letter there (mass storage or some thing) click that icon and now you are in memory card of camera.
Copy those pictures and paste them in picture folder in memory card. Unplug memory card from computer, put it back in camera and see those pictures. make sure picture file names that were taken from camera must not have been changed so camera will recognize them as valid file name.
Thanks.

Card reader not working?!

Have you tried another memory card?

Some devices can read SD but not SDHC. If your memory card is 1 or 2 gig, it's SD, if it's larger, it's SDHC which is not backwards compatible with SD.

Based on the age of the PSC 1350, I would bet it's a SD-only device.

What to do, I forgot to put memory card in HP R707?

Hi

Do you want the pictures transferred to your memory card? that depends on the option available on the camera, try inserting the memory card. select a picture then check options if you can move it to a memory card. if not, download it to a computer and transfer it to the memory card folder.

Hope this help

Memory card error

Not sure what happened, but the pictures are not on the camera.
If the card was blank when put back, then they are lost.

You should always format the card on the camera once you have downloaded the pictures to the PC. This ensures the camera can read it and it is happy the card is OK. Don't rely on any cards formatted by a PC.

The message you are receiving seems to indicate that you need to FORMAT the card for it to be recognised by your camera. Your camera manual will provide instructions for you to do that. Hope this solves your problem.

oh i know where it is: if you open the thing at the bottom of your camera where the battery and memory card goes, next to the memory card place to put it there is a little hole you probably need the end of a paper clip or something like that and then put it there(you hear a little click sound) and then you hold it there for 10 sec and then take the battery and memory card out and then count to ten and then put only the battery back in. and then start your camera and it should be fine. it micht have been the memory card. this happened to me and then it kept on doing it and i tryed everything even reseting it and now it doesnt even turn on! i know its not the battery because if it was the battery then it would flash that blue light to show that it needs charging but ive tried everything and it still doesnt work.=(
