How do I switch to an aperture higher than f/32 on my nikon d3000?

Yes. Just lock the lens aperture ring at its smallest setting (largest f/number). If you need to change the aperture, change it from the camera body by turning the command dial, the same way as with a lens without an aperture ring.

Nikon d80 lens

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number) and lock it if it has a lock. If you need to change the aperture then do so on the body, the same way as when using a lens without an aperture ring.

Message: Lock lens aperture ring at minimum aperture (largest f-number) I think I'm doing this but the message won't go away and the camera won't work.

You must lock the aperture ring to f/22, so the camera can engage the aperture adjustment lever on the lens. Then, you can change the aperture with the command wheel.

When you change the aperture with the command wheel the aperture ring on the lens doesn't move when the camera actually adjusts the lens aperture.

Take the lens off and locate the aperture adjustment lever on the lens mount.

Unfortunately, this won't work with older AF lenses. So if you are using an older lens, the only thing you can do is change the camera setting to M (Manual) to adjust the aperture on the lens yourself.

When you turn the printer on the number E212 will appear and the printer says Switch the power off and on again. I did that several times getting the same reply. There is no manual with the printer for...

  1. Remove the glass
  2. check the Lens Y home position sensor (clean it properly), or replace it
  3. check the Lens Y Motor
if you change the sensor and the error code still, you need to change the Lens Y motor. this is the picture of the Lens Y Motor and Lens Home position Sensor (good luck) mabroukmedal_35.jpg

The f number is constantly showing 95 and i can't change it. the pictures are coming black. sometimes there is no f number, instead of it, a sign like f-- is showing. what to do????

Hello,

This error means the lens is not connecting properly.

Remove the lens and give the contacts (silver pins) a quick clean. Also wipe the camera body contacts.

This should fix it.

annlane123,
Since you have been taking photos in one of the other modes, say shutter or aperture mode you may have changed the F-stop in the process, check to see that the ring is set back for auto mode by aligning the red numbers (ususally F-22) to the white dot on the lens, that way when the camera in auto needs more light the lens will open enough to allow it. Test it with the metering in the viewfinder you'll see it as you change to each number. Remember both the lens and camera are communicating with each other. Not allowing the shutter to release is kind of a safety.
