Question about Belling Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

I have a Belling Microwave that is constantly 're-setting' itself - it's favourite programme is A-7 - Pizza, no matter what I do I can't seem to stop this. I have turned it off at the plug, stopped everything, but it still keeps happening - even when we are not using the Microwave you will hear a 'ping' and it's showing A-7 in the display. It also seems to decide on the number of minutes itself and you have to cook for that amount and on that level or you cannot override it. Would be really grateful if anyone could help?

SOURCE: Kenmore Microwave Hood Combination: over the stove Model #721.80602500

Disclaimer: I'm a DIYer, not a technician.

Our GE over-the-range microwave stopped producing heat yesterday while warming part of the T-giving feast. Everything else (fan, control panel, light) works fine.

After disassembly and testing last night, I discovered a defective "secondary door switch." Your Kenmore uses a similar switch (~$19 on-line), and that might be the problem. But it also could be other things, such as a bad thermal cut-out.

If you know anyone who's handy with a multimeter, most of the basic diagnostics seem to be pretty straightforward.

Sounds like the Magnetron may have collapsed. Probably not worth repairing. Check for burnt/browned components on circuit board/s. Burnt wires, insect or ant damage or soiling. Magnetron is the large-ish square metal object with lots of heat-sink fins on it. Check for discolouration. If nothing obvious, it's probably stuffed, If something is obvious, it's still stuffed, but it may be repairable.:::Spiceweasel.au

SOURCE: I have a Siemens microwave

I wonder if this is an inverter-based model... I ask because on Panasonic/Quasar units, a problem with the magnetron or inverter will cause this very symptom.

If so, because of the voltages and currents involved, I do not recommend that someone without experience attempt repairs on an inverter circuit.

I would contact the manufacturer at the number in your owner's manual to find the nearest authorized servicer.

SOURCE: Shuts itself off mid cooking cycle -- as if unplugged; then after 5 minutes or so turns itself back on as if it was just plugged in (forgetting all previous settings)

If you just put the fan blade back on, it will almost certainly fall off again.

The best bet is to slightly rough up the contact area of the shaft with sandpaper and use a little super glue to hold the blade assembly on the shaft, and let it set a few minutes before using it.

I always recommend that you use the hood vent exhaust fan when cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

How to bake pizza in rival micro wave .??how to set it?

Unless the pizza was specifically packaged for microwave use, pizza cooking in a microwave is usually a bad idea. They don't turn out well. Although microwaves are referred to as "ovens", they really don't bake things, they boil them by heating the moisture in the product. Thus, pizza crust will not rise and get crispy unless the pizza was pre-made to be microwave reheated. Those pizzas will give instructions on how to microwave them.

If you use the microwave and forget to clear the time remaining. Or, if you just leave the food inside, the microwave will start itself in the Pizza mode. I guess it thinks the pizza needs to be reheated??...

You should have a 'clear' button on your oven.

Try to not open the door with the oven running. This causes arcing at the door safety interlock switches and they will fail.

You will know they failed when everything works but there is no "heat". No heat because the oven will think the door is open ... even though you know the door is closed.

Enjoy your new oven ... they are great. I dont know how the Mrs and I would eat if not for the mocrowave!!!

This is an over the range microwave if I guess correctly. ( I couldn't find the model at KitcheAid)

The computer board is no longer sealed and has gotten wet from steam coming off of food being cooked below it. You need the computer control board replaced. My parent's GE over the range microwave had similar problems a couple times.

Belling BEL-CJ/SS25 microwave

My Belling BEL-CJ/SS25 Microwave / oven / grill has recently developed a problem. Every time I close the door the turntable starts rotating, even when I'm not using it. It doesn't make a noise, and doesn't seem to be going into any cooking setting, and the light doesn't come on, but it turns until I open the door, when the light comes on and the turntable stops turning. This has only recently started happening, and nothing else seems to be wrong with it, Is this safe or should I get rid of it and buy a new one. The guarantee has expired so repair may be cost prohibitive.

Belling Microwave Problem

Apparently this one has a mechanical timer. That lack of electronic controls does lessen the complexity. I don't know about the specific regulations concerning British / EU microwaves, but I'm sure there's a fuse inside. In most cases, just replacing a blown fuse will not be the cure, unless one finds the reason it blew. What made it fail (if it did) is the real question. Loose fuse holder allowed excess heat? Shorted component or wiring? Or, is there a failure in the mechanical timer that's causing an open circuit connection? That can certainly happen. Also, a door switch may have failed. This is most commonly caused by opening the door while it's cooking, instead of turning the oven off first. I would suggest you contact Belling service: http://www.belling.co.uk//CMPage.aspx?pageid=130&subsectionid=85§ion=ContactBelling Good luck.
