I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487 laptop, After install Windows XP system operating, only Touchpad is not working. How to repair this problem? Thank you for your support.

We you have installed the operating system (windows xp) but seems like you have not yet installed the drivers

There would be a second disc that you might have got from the manufacturer (application & drivers or Driver and utility CD) please insert the same and try to install the touchpad drivers

Else you can always download the same from the manufacturer website

Dell Inspiron 600m touchpad.

Hi,

Start by uninstalling the touchpad drivers, don't reinstall them as there is really no need for the drivers unless you want to use the scrolling features.

Then I'd also check the hard drive for bad sectors, volume errors and fix them. This is because if the hard drive is holding data like video drivers, touchpad drivers or any other information on a part of the drive which has bad sectors then the operating will start to act up like freezing, taking a long time to boot up etc.

If you don't find any errors on the drive then it is a possibility that the operating system itself has become degraded.

All you have to do to fix the problem is start as if you was going to reinstall XP, but when you see the option to repair the operating system choose that (not the recovery console option), that way any data stored in My Documents folder will be left untouched.

Good luck and please post back if you need anymore help or advice.

Regards.

My touch pad is not working properly, the cursor is bouncing all over the screen have a toshiba satellite a135

Mouse dancing all over the place? Sounds like a possible driver issue…this is generally not a settings issue. There could be at least two possibilities for this action, one being a malware (spyware) problem and the second being a corrupt touchpad driver. If you think you may have malware, go to www.filehippo.com and download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Tool, it is a free download and free to use. Install and perform a quick scan and delete anything it finds.
As for the driver issue, you could just try to update the touchpad driver by going to the touchpad manufacturer support, or to the laptop manufacturer support site, or do what I do and simply uninstall the device and let windows reinstall it at reboot, that way new drivers will be installed without the possibility of corruption. Go to control panel > Device Manager (In XP, the device manager is in the “System” icon under Hardware), scroll down to the mice and pointing devices line and click on the + sign. Right click on the touchpad and select uninstall. Leave the box empty that says delete software / drivers. You’ll need these if there is no new driver. Now reboot the machine and windows loads will find the new software and will want to install drivers for it. It may even ask if it can search windows update for a fresh driver. Click ok and let windows load up the device, you should be trouble free.

Touchpad does not function

Hi,
It sounds to me like the touchpad drivers are corrupt and need reinstalling.
Go here to Toshiba support, download and install the touchpad drivers and utility and see if that helps.>>>>>>

How to install XP in toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 laptop

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.

Keyboard + toucpad freezes

Might seem ovious but you may want to try Acer support and look for a new Driver.. Also check under Control Panel...Mouse options... and also check device profiles to make sure windows isn't loading a "docked profile which may disable touchpad and laptop keybaord use.
