Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
I've had this laptop for nearly a year and just today I have found that when the power lead is connected to the power port the led doesnt light up and no charge is gained.
However when I press the lead in with force it lights up. It seems that the lead isnt fully fitted to the port for one reason or another but I can't seem to work out if its the lead or the port itself.
It most likely the power port on the laptop. Probably has a dry solder joint, will need t be re-soldered.
You can check the power adapter with a multi meter and watch the voltage while you flex the connector, if the voltage is steady then it is OK. You can use this adapter in another laptop (same make/model) to see if it malfunction.
