Printing from usb drives

Please advice me on how to print documents from my usb memory through the usb port of the printer

    thanks but i mean im just printing without the pc or computer. just inserting my usb on the port of the printer. ive tried inserting it but i cant open for the menu of the printer. where can i find or access the menu to open my usb and choose the files that i want to print?

Open the document thats on the thumb drive and go to file, then print, or press ctrl+p

Hi please help? My HP all in one deskjet f380 only prints certain documents, It starts as if its going to print, moving back and forth and then just stops and nothing is printed. The print job dissapears...


Try if one of these solutions help you.
1. Shut down you printer, wait a few seconds, start it again and try to see if you document is printing.
2. Install the printer again on your computer. This time, if possible use an other USB port.
3. If you can print PDF, you can try http://www.freepdfconvert.com/ and print your document after you mad a PDF.

My Dell V305 printer will not print the whole page of an email. This is a document that I need the whole page.


You can get the half document when yhr printer runs out of memory ie too big a or too detailed a print job or if the document itself contains what the printer is seeing as control or commad characters and errors out. It can also be a port error.

Usually its just too detailed a print job. When you print click on the printing preferences and then look for either a DPI setting or a Quality setting. Turn any of those down and try printing. You may have to turn it down more than once to get it to behave. Most new printers can print at 2400 dpi. Unless you know what too look for you won;t be able to see much if any difference even down to about 300 dpi.

Sometimes you cn get port errors and those can be hardware or operating system caused. You can try another usb port. Also try rebooting and printing with nothing else running.

How do I print a Word document from a thumb drive?


IF you want to print the Word document from thumb drive using OJ Pro L7590, IT will not recognise the format of File.

If you can convert the File as Picture file, you will be able to print
this printer has OCR facility ( Optical Character Reade ) but it is Driver built and has to be used from the Software not from the Printer

The printer Pictbridge ( USB Port) to detect the Thumb drive will be able to show you pictures and let them print, however printing any RTF/TIFF/Text document, you may not be able to do so.

Clear pause printing
  1. From the Windows Desktop, select Start , Settings , and Printers .
  2. Right-click the HP LaserJet printer icon that is being used.
  3. Select the Work Offline or Pause Printing option (if enabled) to remove the check.
  4. Print the document again.
Establish parallel connection
  1. Turn off the printer or remove the printer from the network.
  2. Connect the printer to the PC using a parallel cable.
  3. Power on the printer.
  4. Print the document again. NOTE: If the User Intervention Required message reappears, disable or remove any HP LaserJet software utilities loaded on the system (for example, Status Window, HP Toolbox, etc.). Prove printer functionality and troubleshoot communications; try printing again.
Uninstall and reinstall the driver After performing a cold reset on a product installed with USB, a higher DOT4_00x port is created, causing the printer to hang while printing. NOTE: This is required with products installed on a USB port only.
  1. Uninstall the USB printer driver.
  2. Remove the HP folder and AIO folder from the hard drive.
  3. Reinstall the USB printer driver.
CAUSE: This error can occur if when using a network or printing from a laptop. When the print job goes into a pending status, the printer is either in Work Offline or Pause Printing mode. Hope this helps. Please rate my response.

I have an hp psc 1215 all in one printer which will not print documents from my pc, but can print using when i want to photocopy a document. it is shown as ready so what am i doing wrong? help please


Could be a driver, could be a usb port but to even test this theory try reinatalling the print driver and change the plug to another usb port if this still does not shore this up you have a bad pcm module inside that needs to be replaced.

Printer is connected but does not print

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the following things first---
· The printer cover is closed and the rear access door or optional duplexer is attached.
· The printer is connected to the power source and turned on.
· The cable connections are secure and the cartridges are correctly installed.
· The paper or other media is correctly loaded in the in tray.
Now check the printer cable connection: If the printer cable is attached to a USB hub, a printing conflict might exist. Use one of the following methods to resolve the conflict:
· Attach the printer USB cable directly to your computer.
· When printing, do not use other USB devices that are attached to the hub.
Now verify if the printer is connected to the correct USB port: If the computer is configured to use both the back and front USB ports on the printer, then you might be printing to the wrong port. The computer has two versions of the printer driver: one for the front USB port and one for the back USB port. If you are connected to the back USB port, but select the printer driver that is associated with the front USB port, the printer will not print. In the application that you are printing from, click File and then click Print. The Print dialog box opens. The Print dialog box displays two versions of the printer driver. Select the version that is associated with the port to which you are printing. The issue will be resolved.

Printing error


From your start menu, go to printers and faxes area. When this opens do you see your printer listed? Is it greyed out at all or maybe listed as offline? How are you connected tot he computer? Network, USB, or parallel port connection? If you see your printer listed and it has no other duplicate listings, right click the printer and go to properties, then choose the Ports tab. Verify here that the port selected witha check mark corresponds with your connection method. Example: If you are connected through USB, your selected port should say USB. Sometimes DOT4 ports will work for USB connections too. If you see this option, you can select it and hit apply to try it out. Try to print a test page after each applied change. Also, make sure that print jobs haven't built up in your queue by double-clicking your printer icon. If there is a queue of failed print jobs, select them and cancel. This might take a moment to complete. If your printer icon is greyed out, right-click it and un-choose the work-offline option and try it.
