Hi,

This should be fairly simple

If you're using XP:

close or minimize existing windows, right-click on an empty part of the desktop(background pic), when the grey menu pops up select Properties, when the properties sheet opens, select Settings(top far right), assuming your in dual monitor mode you should see two monitors in the picture. If you don't press your FN key and hold while looking for then pressing the F-Key(top row) with a pic of two monitors or the initials "LCD/CRT". If you only had one window before close the properties shet and re-open same way.

Now you have two monitors showing, click on the "2" monitor on the picture, then select extend my desktop to this monitor option and click apply

now grab the slider bar and adjust to 1024x768 and click apply again, assuming the monitor comes on as desired click yes on the confirmation window that pops up. Click OK, DONE!

If your using Vista the instructions end the same but start with, Close all windows then right-click the desktop, select Personalize from the grey menu and wait for the window to open, then select Display settings(same as settings tab in XP from here on in)....

Hope this helps,

Refresh Rate, the reason why it works in safe mode and not normal mode is because in safe mode the system only loads the most basic and reliable drivers and sets the screen resolution and rate to their default values. In safe mode right-click on the desktop and go to properties, go over to the tab Settings and click Advanced. You should see another tab that says Monitor, there you can change your Hz, change it to something like 60hz to be on the safe side.

How to change input timing without a monitor

you will not able to do it without a monitor. you'll need to get another montior in order to change the settings on computer. you need to change the resolution on that computer. sounds like the resolution is either too big or too small that it will not display it.

Monitor does not display desktop

I'm not sure that you in fact have a dell, but take a look at this link and see if it helps.
Normally you should be able to use the osd (on screen display) by pressing the buttons on the monitor itself to change the monitor settings and get it to display properly. You need to make sure the monitor cable is connected properly, and perhaps check the cable itself by substituting another one in its place.
If that doesn't change the situation, you can check the monitor on another computer to be sure it's working correctly. In that case, perhaps a local tech could have a quick look at your new system and figure out why it's not sending a good signal to the monitor.
Best of luck!

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

How do I change boot order on Dell Diminsion 2400 XP Home?

Have you tried using a boot disk that gives you cdrom support?

If not, download those files and make a floppy boot disk, then set bios to boot from floppy and toss that disk in.

I think this website should have the files you need

Hope that helps you
