XP Pro Sp3 Not working

Xp pro sp3 operates slow or is non responsive. Browsers(Internet Explorer, Foxfire) will not load. Internet connection is OK. On safe mode is fine. Task manager shows high performance(100%).Avast shows no virus, Spybot/Malware show no infections. Unable to delete 'hosts' in Windows. Help

    Framework 3.5 was not downloaded.

Safe Mode there isn't a slow response time, but not able to get to the Net to do any downloading. Restore to previous dates does nothing.

Avast, Malwarebyte, Sypbot were able to be updated and scanned in Safe Mode with no infection detections. In Safe Mode it seems to work fine except it is not able to get online. Progressively it is getting non responsive.

CCleaner was used to clearout the trash.

MsConfig was used for the "selective startup" with the results being the % activity is lower to normal in Task Master, but not fully functional indicating some of the programs are the cause. Tried to clear out C drive Windows, System 32, Drivers,ETC, Hosts, but wasn't able to delete the files in 'Hosts'. Just would not delete the line or select all items.

If you recently installed .NET Framework 3.5 this can happen.

While Avast may say that there are no infections, it's impossible to know if it has not been compromised without being able to scan the system with a non-local AV.

I would suggest trying to boot the system into safe mode. Hit F8 while powering the machine on and select Safe-Mode. While there, if you have better functionality of your machine, run a Malware scan at:
www.trendmicro.com/housecall

And follow the instructions on the page, let this run, until the results dialogue window pops up, this make take a while. 1-3+ hours. Just let it run, you do not need to attend it once it tells you it is scanning.

Perform some maintenance cleaning, visit this site to download an application called CCleaner
http://www.filehippo.com/download/file/df09062a5bdcfd3a0a0cf31f7117c0cb566fe5b698d89848911da4e434cb72f5/

After these steps.
Adjust what programs you have starting up in the beginning:

Start > Run > Type "MSCONFIG" > Click the Startup Tab then un-check any program entries that you don't need starting up in the beginning. This does not remove them from your computer, just from starting up in the beginning and taking resources in the background. When you need the program, you can simply click on its link in your start menu. It is your choice what you keep and what to remove.

You need to use Windows XP Professional SP3 media dvd if you want to use your XP Pro SP3 product key. As far as I know, the SP3 product key does not work with the previous version of media (non-SP, SP1, and SP2).

I cannot get rid of pceu virus on a windows xp pro fujitsu desktop because it has disabled safe mode and I do not have the windows xp cd to reinstall windows and the cd/dvd drive does not work .

Download the SP3 installation ISO. Save it to your Desktop. Download ImgBurn and save it to your Desktop. Double-click the installation executable for ImgBurn and click "Next." Follow the remaining onscreen prompts and click "Finish" to complete installation of ImgBurn. Insert a blank CD-R/DVD-R into your DVD drive. Open ImgBurn by going to "Start," "Programs" and "ImgBurn." Click "File," then "Browse for a source file." Navigate to your Desktop and select the SP3 ISO file. Click "Open." Click the blue "ISO to CD" button located on the bottom left of ImgBurn. The program will begin creating the Windows XP SP3 installation CD. This process may take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to complete depending on the speed at which the CD-R/DVD-R is being burned. Click "OK" once the CD-R/DVD-R has finished burning. You've successfully created a Windows XP SP3 installation CD.

Xp service pack 3 key

Hi,

There is no "key" for SP3, its just an update.

Just click on the start menu and perform a Windows/Microsoft Update to install SP3 and then perform another update to update SP3.

Dimension 5100 and windows xp pro SP3 clean install

Well if you have it installed on the computer and cant get past the Windows logo. Put the SP3 disk in and do a repair. Make sure you hit -R and not the repair button after clicking continue. Well the directions for a repair will be on the screen. That is my thoughts on what you should do. If you have already done this, then I'm not sure where you should head to next. Hope this helps!!

Can't load on Windows XP home SP3 system.

The software is probably just too old for the system. I would suggest Jargon Naturally speaking as a replacement. It is a very good voice recognition product and not too expensive.

Windows explorer not initiated at startup and hangs the system,

I had this XP problem with Norton recent after SP3 got on.
Clean install and no antivirus, straight afterwards a bootable CD with SP3 then I replace already removed Norton with Avast virus scanner.
Superfast, all problems I ever had gone. Likely the scanner.

XP-Pro Crash

I don't know why but some systems which have XP (SP1 or SP2) simply can't take the upgrade to SP3. Your system appears to be one of them. For instance our family's computer had XP SP2 and upon upgrading to SP3 we received a fatal crash while XP was loading into normal operating mode.

I managed to resolve the issue by booting to safe mode and restoring the system to a date before I installed SP3. Sorry that the new SP doesn't work for you.
