Messy print when using glossy paper.

I'm trying to print a color picture using a one-side glossy paper but the print is coming out messy. Is the problem with the paper or with the printer?

Ok. sometimes the ink for hp if its not photo ink will do that. go to your printing settings/preferences and adjust your ink out put to less and dry time to more. you may have to adjust a few times to get the right balance. if you dont want to set it up for all printing you can also change settings when your ready to print. . just follow same steps when you are going to print. but you have to do it everytime you want to print a photo. also make sure to set your paper selection to glossy photo paper

My hp printer casts purple to black and white prints

Tried your settings with no luck. Also tried every canon profile listed to no avail.

These are my settings:
Color management:
Color handling: Photoshop manages colors
Source space: sRGB...2.1
Printer profile: Canon MP620 Series GL2/52G
Rendering: Perpectual

Media Type: Glossy Photo paper
Print quality: standard
Effects: borderless

Printer Preferences:
Color Intensity: manual-set-everything is 0-matching:none

I am using Kodak glossy paper and I am using that setting. I am printing a digital scrapbook page with color. I used black and white pictures in the page trying to get rid of the purple trees, so it shouldn't be printing any color at all in the photos, but the limbs are still purple.

Under color settings in PSE I have checked "optimize for printing".

I am off to the store to pick up another package of photo paper..maybe HP or Epson will be better (I think those are the other 2 choices in the store)

Will check back in after I try the other papers

Hello Landscapeman ,

You need to specify the paper type when the print dialog box appears. Heavy glossy paper needs to spend more time in the fuser so that the toner is fixed.

I'm sure you haven't used all printers. Anyway, are you printing color images such as pictures, etc. If so try using a glossy paper. The colors and images are much more true colors on glossy paper, and it don't **** up your ink.

When I print the page comes out half way then jams. if I open the back door on printer page comes out but only half is printed ok rest is messy

This is the infamous exit sensor problem. Watch this video on YouTube: 5fJHykzkfww

You can try to clean it but that probably will not work. Go to eBay and get the part for about $10. The video shows you how to make the repair in about 15 minutes.

Printing and color issues

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges? Brother Genuine Cartirdges????
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE
BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you.

If you find this information pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck.........
P.S.
use Matted Paper for printing, Glossy, does not work well for me.

10 lbs is great.

Using hp343 hp337 photocoping glossy photo on to plain and glossy picture of grass blue and person pink thanks

Print a self-test report to determine if there is a problem with the print cartridges. Chances are, the tri-color cartridge is at fault.
It could be defective (take it back to the store for an exchange—if you just bought it), the ink could have dried out in one or more of the chambers (look at the expiration date), or the ink could have been depleted in one or more of the chambers (just time for a new cartridge—regardless of how much other ink is available, unless you don't mind sacrificing print quality for the sake of using up all of the ink that's in there).

If the printhead is dirty, open the list of system printers (in Windows™, look in START menu→Control Panel→Printers and Faxes), right-click on the printer, select Printing Preferences…, select Features, click on Printer Services…, & use the "Clean the Printheads." option. If three passes of cleaning via the utility show little progress, then gently clean the printhead with of the tri-color cartridge with Q-Tips® & clean, distilled water. (Careful, this can become quite messy!)

Look at the contacts. If these appear damaged, then replace the cartridge. If it is a dirty connection with these copper-colored contacts, then use clean, distilled water (NOT TAP WATER) & clean Q-Tips to clean the copper-colored contacts. (DO NOT TOUCH WITH ANYTHING ELSE—ESPECIALLY FINGERS.) Let it dry before re-inserting the cartidge, & don't reuse any of the Q-Tips.

When I print on photo paper the ink doesn't dry and picture quality is unrecognisable

You have to match your print settings with the correct type of media used !

When you print, set the preferences, set to PHOTO quality and not draft, set paper type to PHOTO PAPER, or GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER whichever - If you select wrong media type your colors might be off. Select the settings that match the closest to your media. If you use paper use "plain paper" setting, if you use glossy photo paper, use "glossy photo paper" as settings and PHOTO quality.

I recommend use you use inkjet PHOTO paper, glossy, you can use HP or EPSON or even the cheap LIKON ones work amazing for me, they should be able to dry quickly, if they don't you are not using the correct settings.

By your description above it looks like you are using economy or draft mode - NOT good for photo paper.

Problems with the pictures coming out right

if you search around the web, it looks like these printers only do photo quality on kodak paper.
Premium paper. You save money on ink, but have to be kodak paper. Make sure to load it with the glossy side down. I have tried several papers and settings and no photos look good unless I use kodak paper.
