Question about Dewalt DC920KA Heavy Duty Xrp 18V Cordless Drill/Driver

When I use the drill there is a burnt smell afterwards...what is causing this?

Well it is definitely from the drill not what I am drilling. It cannot be dirty because I have not used it enough to get it dirty.

if the motor is burnt should I stop using it? Is there a way to fix it or should this be looked at by a authorized dealer?

Drillbits "burn" what you are drilling when there is too much friction. That is caused by a variety of things...including...lack of lubrication for metal work...and usually a dull drill bit in wood.

If you see no smoke comming from the point of impact...it might be your drill motor..check it out when you are using it...it could be dirty and need a good cleaning...or it could be burning out from excessive or improper usage.

My Panasonic EY010 Universal Charger emitted a smell, clicked and died while charging. Is it worth while trying to open it to see if it has a blown fuse or is it a throw away?

I would probably replace it. If the fuse blew then something else caused it and the smell could be from a burnt section of the board and that is not replaceable.

I was drilling and it started smelling kinda like burnt plastic. now when i pull trigger, nothing happens at all. the drill is a bosch 1194vsr hammer drill

Sounds like you need bushings do not try again till you replace then as you may damage the armiture......
there should be two plastic slotted screw caps somewhere on the drill........remove those and a bushing will pop out replace those by ordering fron tool repair shop......should cost only a few dollars

I was drilling a hole and my drill blow up with a burning smel

could be quite a few problems, did you overload or stall the drill, did you have adequate power supply? Quick test without knowing the model number and brand can you turn the bit or chuck with your hand? If it is cordless is the battery contacts burnt? If electric unplug and remove the handle halves and look at the armature/field for burnt windings or burnt switch, all which could cause a burning smell and shut the tool down, let me know and I will try and help further.

If there wasn't a burnt smell signaling burning out the drill then you should be able to just recharge the battery
