Question about Broan-NuTone Intermediate Whispaire WA6542SS Stainless Steel Kitchen Hood
This is the Broan Nutone QT236. The fan switch shorted out during an install, so I got a replacement part sent out. I am not familiar with the harness the red and black leads go into...the old one is still installed, so I can see where they go, but it is not obvious to me how to remove the old ones from the harness. The replacement red lead has a clip on it, which does not look like it wants to come out of the plastic harness fitting easily, once in place. The black lead is just straight wire, but the old one does not just pull out easily from the harness fitting. Thanks!

my range hood lights would only work on highest setting. nothing on low or medium setting. fan working fine. I tripped the breaker off then on again at the electrical panel and behold, everything works perfectly fine now. don't know why it worked but it did!

Hi if the new part has no screw holes or place for clip and it is only push in connector ie you dont need to solder the wires to it then it will just pull out use a small screw driver under the edge and gently pry free you cant damage it anymore than it is anyway can you.
Also on the side of the new switch if their is no groove cut into it for a push on clip to hold it in place then it will just pull out and push the new one in.

The problem is the little lever in the socket. Turn breaker of fan off, grab a flat head screw driver and lift the little lever slighty like a 45 deg angle. If not the replacement socket assembly is

The Problem is the wiring. Take the 2 screws retaining the metal plaque off underneath the filters. You will see the wires leaving the motor going into a "molex" plastic connector which connects two another set of wires going to the control board. Check to see if the wiring colors match from side to side of plastic connector. Ive only seen it happen once but it was exactly that. I do service calls for broan & Nutone

The Black 120vac Line In wire goes into "L". The Black wire goes into "2". The Red Wire goes into "3". When you install the switch, the Red and Black wires will be on top of the switch.
