Motor board LED fllashing 6 times. any way to reset the code for sure ?

GE WHDRR418G1WW motor circuit board LED flashing 6 times. according to GE publication. This condition is lock rotor and motor needs to be replaced at $200 a pop. I open the front panel of the washing machine and tub, motor shaft belt and pully all move freely. is replacing motor the only thing left to do ?

I bought a motor and hope for the best. It was a bear to finally find the flashing LED between the tight gaps. I worked with various motors, motor controls, variable speed drives of all sort. All motor and control should have protection against 'lock rotor' with an overload trip against damage plus reaet. GE has a poorly designed motor and speed drive with a costly fix. People give this model a thumb up on the web. I suppose the first trouble will change their mind. My unit only lasted a little over an yera. no warrenty :( thanks for the confirmation.

IN YOUR CASE YES BECAUSE TECHNOLOGY MAKES IT THIS WAY ANYMORE. YOUR MOTOR MAY BE A MOTOR TO YOU AND MOST PEOPLE BUT IT IS ACTUALLY AN ELECTRONIC COMPONENT AND IS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLED. SORRY TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS. GOOD LUCK

I have zanussi ZWH 6140 P WATER WONT DRAIN ERROR CODE 5 FLASHING RED LED LIGHTS?

First, always check carbon brushes on main motor especially if the appliance is in use for several years.

Five times the red alarm means a problem with the engine washing.
So, could be:

E51 - Motor power triac short-circuited.
Current leakage from motor or from wiring; Main PCB faulty
E52 - No signal from motor tachometric generator.
Wiring faulty; Motor faulty; Main circuit board faulty.
E53 - Motor triac sensing circuit faulty (wrong input voltage to
microprocessor). Main circuit board faulty.
E54 - Motor relay contacts sticking (high voltage level when
the relay switches to OFF).
Current leakage from motor or from wiring; Main PCB faulty;

Rapid reading last alarms:
Press the START/PAUSE button and the nearest option button simultaneously (4 and 6) for at least 2 seconds: the LEDs initially switch off, and then display the flashing sequence indicating the last alarm.

Will not spin or agitate

Remove the front panel. Observe the motor flashes.
The motor blinks on and off all the time.
It blinks faster when running.
If a failure occurs you will get the following flashes:

1 flash bad motor
2 flashes slipping belt
3 flashes corrupted software bad motor
4 flashes failed mode shift circuit
5 flashes bad motor
6 flashes locked motor check for objects between tub
7 flashes bad lid switch.
8 flashes motor overheated too much soap
9 flashes brake resister is toast bad motor.

To Reset the Inverter Board: Push the timer knob in so the washer is idle. Unplug the machine for one minute. Plug back in and raise and lower the lid six times within 12 seconds.

After resetting the inverter board, put the machine in a spin cycle and see if it runs. If not, check for a green blinking light on the inverter board. It will flash failure codes. If no light is visible you have a blown fuse built into the neutral side of the harness on the white/red wire.

themobilian_2813.jpgthemobilian_31.pngIf you see a small bubble in this black heat seal and the motor light is not on then the fuse within is blown replacement part is WH49X10041
What else do I have? Oh yeah how about the SERVICE MANUAL

4 flashes failed mode shift circuit
5 flashes little green men (bad motor)

Hi, I overloaded my washer with towels. It hasn't fully drained (can hear water beneath the tub when you move it). I tried unplugging it for a minute, but the same problem presents itself. When start is...

The motor has a power inverter on top of it. Try and reset the motor by doing this:

Turn the washer off. Unplug the machine for one minute. Plug back in and raise and lower the lid six times within 12 seconds. It may take a few times. The motor has a green light on it that blinks. If it ain't acting right it will display flashes:

1 flash bad motor
2 flashes slipping belt
3 flashes corrupted software bad motor
4 flashes failed mode shift circuit
5 flashes little green men bad motor
6 flashes locked motor check for objects between tub
7 flashes bad lidswitch.
8 flashes motor overheated too much soap
9 flashes brake resister is toast bad motor.

After resetting the inverter board, put the machine in a spin cycle and see if it runs. If not, check for a green blinking light on the inverter board. It will flash failure codes according to the picture above. If no light you probably have a blown fuse built into the neutral side of the harness on the white/red wire.themobilian_4.png If you see a liitle bubble in there then you know that dude is toast.
That fuse is: $7.50

Washer drains but won't spin.

The next time this condition occuers, take the front panel off the machine and look under the top cover of the motor at the right front side. There is a LED light on the motor inverter board there. If it is flashing twice, then a pause, then repeating this again and again you most likely have a loose hub nut on your wash basket. (the motor reads this as belt slippage)
1. Order and install a new hub washer (WH2X1199) and a new split ring (WH2X1195) along with a new hub nut (WH2X1193). If the hub part of the basket is worn, replace that as well (plastic tub models = WH45X10027, SS tub = hub / basket WH45X10060.
2. Tighten hub nut, torque to 110 ft-lbs.
3. Clear flash code error. (your method to clear code is a bit more extreme than required, but will work)

We had the same problem with our new GE washer.......the repairman just left. It's the circuit board on the motor that failed, causing the motor to stop working. GE will replace it under warranty.
