The battery may have a short in it. Take it back to Home Depot for a new one. Rigid has a lifetime warranty on their cordless products.

Hi,
To start, I assume you took the "good" battery from the working drill and tested the inoperative drill.
Good for doing that.
The other causes I know of in Drills that turn them into paper weights are as follows:
1 Worn Brushed: You can attempt to test this by squeezing the assumed good trigger button and
Taping the drill or lightly banging it on a bench top or something else. If it is brushes, it will often but no necessarily all the time, start to run for a moment, or just running. Since you use the drill and "use it a lot" That will be the first thing I would look for.

2 Trigger Button.

I would bring it to a tool service place or send it back to Ridgid. Try this link

Hope this helps, Happy New Year

Motor will not start on my Ridgid table saw

Check the brushes and the commutator for wear and buildup between the insulated areas of the commutator..It should be clean and not full ofcopper residue. That will make the motor click only upon triggering the starter switch

Cant push in the release button to take off the blade on a Ridgid R3200 circular saw

Happens to my Milwaukee sometimes. Spin the blade around (by hand) while trying to push in the lock button. That will usually engage it. If not, the old-fashioned way of wedging the blade against the base with a piece of scrap wood always works

sounds to me like u do not have it on a big enough circuit, look on the name plate for FLA, this is the amps it pulls to start up, and size ur circuit for that amount.
