The tv was just out of guarantee when this problem occured. The tv picture doesnt fit the screen correctly it kind of elongates it making faces look long and squashed together and slightly distorted. Also at the bottom there is a bit about 1.5 inches thats not part of the main picture but a bit extra a second bit of the picture. Now if I press picture size on the control where it used to change to the widescreen view in the middle of the screen with two black strips at the top and bottom it now only has a black strip at the bottom with the widescreen type view pushed up to the top but its still slightly distorted.
Any sugestions with this would be appreciated Thankyou

Usually, this occurs on CRT projection TV's, and occasionally on CRT ... Dark, light, or colored bars can be seen rising slowly through the picture, ... Known as "hum bars" or "common-mode noise," these result from AC power line hum coming ...
Jun 17, 2015 - Flat Screen TV Has Lines Going Through Screen - Possible Bad ...inch LCD TV which is showing lines (vertically) and getting extremely hot. ..... If you leave the projection TV on for a certain amount of time does it ..... If so the plasma gas is most likely causing the screen to become distorted or color issues.
There are connectors and circuitry that control the vertical and horizontal picture image generation that need to be at the edges of the screen. The border simply covers these connectors and circuitry so the user cannot see it. Newer models of flat panel TV's solve this problem better to get more picture real-estate to the user. Flat panel TV's are not like the original CRT (cathode-ray) TV's of the past that had borders to conceal a non-linear distortion that occurred at the edges.
Hi, If same lines/ distortion appears in every input of tv then it is lcd panel (screen) problem as question shows it is Sony KDL-32ML130 lcd tv. Can you please post picture of tv screen to show distortion/ lines to diagnose it correctly? Thanks.
Sometimes the box that sends the signal to the TV preconditions the signal to 4x3 or 16x9, depending on the capability of the TV. I always opt to the "no fit" option and allow the intelligence of the TV to fit the screen.
If you have "off air" TV signal without that preconditioning, I cant help.
Is the menu text clear on the screen, when it's focused correctly. Or is that also distorted.
If the menu text is OK then the picture signal is dodgy. could be due to a bad earth lead on the video cable.
Is it distorted on all signal inputs
