Listen for a distictive click at the valve assembly. if you hear a buzzing it is the coils. if you here nothing, it may be something as simple as a door switch. need more info for a more difinative help.

Gas smell in maytag dryer

You have a gas leak from the gas valve being faulty. DO NOT use the dryer until you have replaced the valve! I have been doing appliance repair for 15 years and I have seen 7 homes that have burned down due to this very same problem. Please don't use the dryer! Here is the new gas valve to order.
Keep me posted!

Why does my kenmore 700 dryer smell gas

check the gas valve for leaking seals in the body of the valve,if o.k , then check the manifold tube at the opening just above the gas valve for correct air throttle opening,if not enough air mixture the gas wont burn completely and you will have a smell of gas too

When coin put into machine dryer started spark

Make sure someone hasnt shut off you gas supply. Check inlet gas pressure to valve. Check to see if you have voltage to the gas valve . If you have all that then the valve has bound up or burned out the opening coil . It will need to be replaced. Has this been happening to this dryer often. Do you have problems with other dryers? It sounds as though you are in a laundro-mat as the use of coins to operate.

Stopped heating. Had service repair yesterday and he replaced the ignitor. Does not heat again, even though it warmed up briefly after the repairman completed the job. What else could the problem be?

Hello- Have him come back out (AT NO CHARGE) and check the gas valve coils these are probably not opening the valve, thus letting the gas out. It is a common issue and sometimes we, the Techs, need to sit there and watch the ignitor light the gas for a whole cycle. Often it will heat for 30 minutes and then the coils will stop opening the valve when told to by the timer. It is possible that there is a thermostat issue but less likely. Hope this helps, best regards.

Smelled mild gas odor after moving dryer. Replaced gas line connection. Still smell gas. Tried to tighten gas line have strong gas odor after running dryer. Does not seem to be heating

The gas valve should not be opening unless the glow igniter glows and sends a signal to the gas valve. I suspect a small leak in either the gas pipe or at the gas valve. You will have to get to the gas valve to perform a leak test. While the dryer is open, replace the igniter.

Gas dryer heats for couple minutes then goes cold

sounds like gas valve is not opening. your ignitor has to pull 3.2 to 3.6 amps to open gas valve. check amps

I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGV6848AWO.

the ignitor bar that lights the gas might not be coming on, the coils that open the gas valve in the dryer might not be opening the valve, or the flame sensor might be bad which would not allow power to the ignitor. these are the most common problems with whirlpool gas dryers
