SOURCE: Laptop running hot - Fan cycling on and off every 10-20 seconds

My guess is that CPU fan, it there is one, is not working properly and your computer is heating up. Is it turning off, too, occasionally after a period of time? Suggest a new CPU fan.

SOURCE: HP Pavillion dv9700 won't power up

Try removing the battery and using only power cord to turn the laptop on. If that fails, try turning it on without power cord, just on battery.

If none of those work, then most probable cause of your problem is motherboard. Hopefuly you are either under manufacturer warranty or you have extended warranty with your vendor where you've purchased the laptop.

If your laptop turns on on power cord, but without battery, then battery is the problem. Also, if laptop turns on when it's only on battery but it doesn't when you plug ac cord in it, then the adapter is the problem.

SOURCE: hp dv3 boot: no bios, blinking screen

First, remove the Battery Pack from the Notebook and reinsert it after an hour.
Also, press the F8 Key on the Keyboard while turning ON the Computer.
Next, please select "Last Known good Configuration" from the menu.
Ensure that the Booting Priority is set to HDD in the BIOS Settings and also turn OFF the Quick Boot feature. This should resolve the issue.

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

My laptop Hp G60 won't turn on the charger light

Maybe you have disconnected the small cable which connects the power button to the motherboard. Or your charging unit at the back of your laptop is faulty, take the cover off and click the button without it on maybe a alternative. Only other solution would be have you had a powercut recently?

Laptop won't turn on

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Hi,

Please turn on your laptop back and please check your CPU fan, make sure your laptop CPU fan is running without failure. That fan maybe set to auto on/off but make it sure that fan will running when your laptop become hot. I also recommeded you to flash lastest Bios to your laptop. You can gte Bios software at manufacturer website and find " Download Driver / Software "

Motherboard is defective & needs to be replaced with a new one.
You can find a replacement motherboard by searching on e-bay.com with the motherboard's model number. This could be found under the RAM.

Hard drive or fan click?

Very unlikely that you are hearing any fan turn off and on since these are temperature controlled varable speed devices, not serviced by a relay that you can hear.
Some hard drives are audible even when working normally so that is not necessarily a sign of a dying drive.

Check your system settings to see if the drive is set to park and turn off too often.
I keep mine set at 30 minutes so it isn't cycling more than needed or running all the time.
