You have to remove the front panel first to access the clip that holds the front of the top down. Instructions:
crosstip medium screwdriver
1/4 inch socket
5/15 inch socket
a. Remove the door and opposite side door plugs (crosstip screws)
b. Remove the front panel - this exposes sheet metal bolts (5/16 inch) some with crosstip on left and right of unit. Set panel aside (right side) WITHOUT unplugging wires
c. Unscrew all the exposed bolts.
d. Top bolts left and right secure the unpainted metal hooks which secures the top of dryer. Unscrew these bolts and wiggle the metal retainer hooks off. Lift top and support to create 6 inch gap in the front (top unit hinges in back and has electrical connections - do NOT disconnect wires)
e. Release belt from pulley by reaching left and under drum (this is out of sight)
f. gently lift out drum and belt and set aside

Could be 2 things... either your heat source is out of repair or your vent is blocked. Since you say it only gets warm I'll assume the problem is with the gas coils inside the unit. These parts are replaceable

Your model number indicates a gas dryer. It does not have a heating element. It has a glowbar igniter,a flame sensor and a gas valve. Either the glowbar igniter is bad or the flame sensor or the gas valve coils or the thermal fuse.

There is a spring in this diagram. Part 6. It hooks to the idler. It's the only spring I can find on the diagrams. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=PYG2300AWW&productCategoryId=0151200&brandId=3048 &modelName=DRYER&diagramPageId=00006&componentDescription=MOTOR%20&%20DRIVE&documentId=M0512356&blt=06
