Problem monitor My cmv cm-922d 1 year old monitor has a blank black screen. The blue power light goes on but nothing on the screen comes on. I have tried different cables, graphics cards, and computers. The screen still doesn't display. Clicking the monitors menu button doesn't do anything either. Help!

Re: problem monitor

Hi, Sounds either a backlight problem (inverter or tube light) or the display interface. Since you have confirmed that it is your LCD monitor, your best bet perhaps is to seek the services of a qualified professional. Should you venture in doing it yourself (DIY), You need to open up the casing. A step by step procedure is better illustrated here . The working principles of notebook/laptop displays are nearly identical to your LCD. Hope this be of some help. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

The power cord should in this case be the same as the one used on a desktop computer. It a 3 connection type plug in.

You will be able to get it from your computer shop of choice.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

My monitor screen goes black

The monitor is going bad. Either going to be a bad screen or a bad inverter. Also Since you tried it on another computer and its still giving you the same symptoms, you know the computers are fine. To be sure, try another monitor on your computer and if you get video on the new monitor then thats another way of verifying that the dell monitor is bad.

Blue power button flashing with blank screen

This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is common in many monitors. If it started taking longer and longer to display an image, and the power light is blinking on-and-off, that's the problem. You can confirm that it's the monitor and not your computer or the cable by plugging in another monitor if you have one to try.

If it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old it is, you may find it better to just replace it with a gently used one from ebay.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your monitor. While the monitor is turned on and plugged up to your computer system, try looking very closely at sharp angles from above, if you can barely see your desktop the problem is the back lamp inside your monitor. Make sure the settings are not in sleep or standby mode first. If it is your back lamp you can check the following websites for information on how to fix them: The first one is here
The second site requires free registration and you will find the information you need in the members section, the main page is here. Since your monitor is less than a year old, you might want to consider sending it back to the manufacturer since they usually give you a 1-3 year warranty on the products. The only thing you should have to pay is shipping and handling. You stated that you changed the cables and tried hooking up the monitor to a known good system and that still did not help the problem, so I believe the problem may be the back lamp. I hope this helps fix your problem and if you need further assistance please let me know. I wish you the best of luck.

If you would not mind rating my help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Monitor keeps turning off

my first two ideas are....

1. Power setting/screen saver - this could be build into the monitor or a setting in the power options in the control panel.

2. improper setting for the monitor....this could be the refresh rate most likely.....right-click in a blank area of the desktop, go to properties, settings tab, advanced.....there should be an option in one of the tabs that has an option for refreash rate...make sure it is set to 60.....

If not one of these two things, than it is a faulty monitor......probably not worth getting fixed....hopefully still under warranty??

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

I am not familiar with your particular model, but I do know what the problem is.
The inverter that runs the lights behind the screen is faulty and needs to be repaired. The lights shine from the top and bottom and reflect outwards through the panel so you can see what is on the screen. If you start the computer up, then shine a bright light into the panel you will see an image on the screen, but very feintly.
This can be cheap, it can also be expensive depending on where you go to get it repaired. Call aorund to a few TV shops in your area to get a rough idea on prices.

Hope that helps =)
