Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU1100XTPS Built-in Dishwasher

2 Answers

'Dead' DU1100XTP The dishwasher will not start - no lights at all - no indication that anything's working (although I confirmed the unit has power). I've seen numerous posts regarding the control board - is there a problem with these in general? My unit is just beyond the warranty (naturally!) so I'd like to know if there's been any concession made by the manufacturer due to the number of problems. I'd gladly replace the board if Whirlpool would send me one. Thanks.

It was in the middle of a wash and it just died. It has power going to it but it's not doing anything at all.

I've checked the power and the door is clicking when it shuts but there is still noting happening. This dishwasher is brand new (only used three times). Any other suggestions for a quick fix?

Have you checked the door switch? it controls the power to the dishwasher so it won't run while open. that is a common issue with all dishwashers.the door switch runs to the motor controlling the power...good luck

No power appears to be coming in....no connection when door is closed; no lights come on on any of the cycle indicators...deader than a doornail@l

Hello. I need the make/model number to help you most accurately. From the symptom you describe, there might be a main fuse located on or near the main control board which has opened, killing power to the unit. Clues: totally dead--no lights--an open door will not affect indicator lights, the unit won't do anything though--safety(nothing will happen until the door is closed) Have you had a power outage recently? Usually 3-4 weeks after an outage, the damaged chips on the boards start to fail. This can be evidenced by blown control panels, blown main boards, etc. Make sure 120 volts *is* getting to the dishwasher--check the power connections below(be careful). If the breaker has tripped, reset it and see if the unit runs. Troubleshooting starts from the outside and proceeds inward, eliminating the obvious and moving to ever more complex problems until the culprit is found. Definitely supply me with that model number so I can see what I'm dealing with and guide you correctly. Thanks!

Lock light is on will not go off. nothing will work

Hold the Air Dry button until the light goes off. or Press and hold the "Heated Dry" button for approximately 4 seconds. The control lock indicator light under the padlock symbol will turn off when the controls are unlocked. But if that is not helping then its faulty control panel. It has to be replaced.Unplug the unit from power outlet for 10 minutes then reconnect and check,if lock light turns off.----------------- Thank you.

Whirlpool DU1100XTP vlean light blinking

Watch the light closely. If it blinks 7 times then pauses, this indicates a heater or door latch issue.
Press the following buttons in sequence: Hi Temp Wash, Heated Dry, Hi Temp Wash, Heated Dry, Hi Temp Wash.
If this doesn't work, check the tech sheet. (should be stuck to inside of the bottom toe panel)

All lights should illuminate then a diagnostic sequence will start.
Listen carefully, as soon as you hear the water begin to fill, open the door and feel the heater. if cold, check the heater for continuity (should be around 10ohms)
Also, bend the door catch on the dishwasher tub downward, this will engage the door latch better. Don't bend too far as it will hit the door while closing.

These dishwashers normally have a "Control Lock" mode.  It's in the manual.  It is provided for child safety.  It's often controlled by holding the "No Heat Dry" button for 4 seconds or more -- same procedure turns it on or off.
