Question about Nikon D50 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens

1 Answer

Nikon D50 flash not synchronizing

Built-in flash fires but photos requiring flash are all underexposed. Battery is fully charged and camera appears to function perfectly otherwise. All reset procedures specified in the manual have been carried out. When I use aperture control or shutterspeed control modes with slow flash synch, the pictures are correctly exposed. In auto mode when I increase ISO to 800, indoor flash pictures are underexposed, while those taken with flash turned off are okay. Thanks for any insights you might contribute

Re: Nikon D50 flash not synchronizing

Ok this is a crappy fix but it works for me.

If your flash isn't syncing correctly make sure your on auto flash. when your flash flips up and you get the beep push the piece that holds the flash just a little forward. and walla your flash syncs up.

My flash stopped working on my nikon coolpix L110..

The Nikon Coolpix is a compact digital camera that is well-suited for amateur to semi-professional photographers. Occasionally, some issues with the built-in flash can occur. If the hardware is damaged, the camera must be taken in for repairs. More often, problems occur because of obstructions or issues with the camera's settings and are easily repairable. Follow the troubleshooting guide to fix the built-in flash.

1.Ensure the Nikon Coolpix digital camera battery is fully charged.
2.Wait several seconds before pressing the shutter-release button if the "Flash Ready" indicator light is flashing red. Press the "Flash Mode" button once or twice to change the flash settings from "Off" to "On" or "Auto" if the "Flash Ready" indicator light is off.
3.Ensure there are no obstructions, like your finger or the camera strap, that are preventing the flash from firing if an error message appears on the display screen and the flash is not firing when the flash mode is set to automatic.
4.Press the flash back into the camera after every photo to ensure the flash always fires in "Auto" mode instead of just in low illumination settings. Press the flash back into the camera to turn off the flash in "Manual" mode; otherwise the flash will continually fire.
5.Change the auto focus setting from "Infinity" to "Auto," "Macro Closeup" or "Self-Timer" by pressing the "Focus Mode" button once, twice or three times to automatically turn the flash back on.
6.Use only Nikon external flash accessories to avoid damage to the built-in flash and camera circuits.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

Flashes chr and won't fire

This can be caused by a badly connecting memory card, take it out and ensure its clean and connecting properly, also happens in cold climates, ensure the battery is fully charged. This is a comon problem with the D50

Nikon D50 -flash won't fire

Try pushing the flash forward just a tiny bit. this model of Nikon has a built in problem with the flash popping up too hard. You can also try to "soften" the pop-up action with your finger instead of just letting it snap up into position.

My Nikon D50 is suddenly underexposing the lower half of each photo. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Are these flash photos? If so, make sure you don't have the lens hood on. Also make sure the shutter speed is slower than the sync speed.

Otherwise, is this happening at a variety of shutter speeds? With fresh batteries?

Those Xenon flash tubes last for a long time. You likely need a new flash PCB (printed circuit board). Typically, the trigger coil is at fault when you get the ready light but no flash
